I know some people may not like mods/admins on the boards... but there is a prime example of why you need someone to be able to take control of a situation. ch.com (as far as I know... I haven't really been there in about a year), has nobody to do that. hence, people have free reign to behave like mindless heathens. (obviously there are exceptions, I'm friends with a handful or so of people that are masochistic enough to still post over there)

My suggestion is to email webmaster@caneshockey.com and ask them to look into it. I've gotten results that way. Although it's possible that they disabled his account to begin with so that's why he's resorted the spam-o-rama. What a loser.

Well it's different and worse in a way now. It looks like they disabled a Leafs troll's login and now he created a new one and is posting a new thread every minute or so. With the crap s/w they have, it just fills up the entire screen very quickly.

Yes it is. I do believe that it is not the place it was. I just went on there and was astounded :eek: . I guess the leaf dude does own that board now. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

The funny/not so funny thing is that another poster on CH.com actually guessed the Leafs guy's password and changed it so he couldn't get back in. He e-mailed me and told me about it today. Unfortunately I guess he didn't have any idea this kid really and truely has no life and would resort to this. :roll:
I swear the Leafs thing isn't any worse than the religion crap.....and I can't help but participate in that once in a while! I hate myself. :sad:

It's completely insane now. I went there earlier today when he posted the first message about someone stealing his password and I told him to calm down and he just went off posting over and over. Now he's got the ultra lame-o "I'm warning you, if you make fun of me again, I'll keep doing the constant posting" shtick in full effect. Really babyish and stupid. I don't think I'll look at that message board again until the current crap is over. As you guys all said, they really need to fix some things over there.

That is why I NEVER go to ch.com...I can't take how some folks over there trash the players....there is such a thing as constructive criticism..but some of those people don't know the meaning of that term!! :mad: I will stay away..it will save me a lot of stress!!!

I only posted on CH.com for a week or so during summer of last year, and then went back into lurker mode, and then totally backed away from the forum. Based on what I've seen and heard, the player trashing, trolling, and overall crap in CH.com's forum has only gotten worst since this summer.
I'm very thankful for LGC.com. Without it, there wouldn't be a civilized, friendly place to discuss the Canes. Heck, I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is easily the best sports board I've ever posted at, period. Thanks for creating it Caniac, and thanks to not only Caniac, but also Mo, Guyute, Shell, Rio, Crazy, and GoldWolf for doing a fine job moderating it.

One of the reasons I started to post at the official board was the pride of knowing that if someone needed help or info regarding my favorite team, I was helping them out on not just any board BUT the official board of my favorite team. Obviously, that pride wore off real quick after spending just a few days frequenting that board. It's a darn shame that the official board has devolved into such a cesspool...if it was anything like this board, there's no telling what great things could be accomplished over there. Again, I agree. I will never forget when I was checking out various teams' websites out of boredom sometime during the summer of last year, and I went to the Maple Leafs' site. Until then, I had never seen so much Flash animation and crud in my life. Not to mention how that site was not really the most well organized one...definitely more glitter there than information.

Some have made it here, but others have not. When fans of other teams want to check in and/or ask something of the Canes fans, that is the logical place for them to begin. For that reason, I hope they get their act together at some point.
I wholeheartedly agree. One of the reasons I started to post at the official board was the pride of knowing that if someone needed help or info regarding my favorite team, I was helping them out on not just any board BUT the official board of my favorite team. Obviously, that pride wore off real quick after spending just a few days frequenting that board. It's a darn shame that the official board has devolved into such a cesspool...if it was anything like this board, there's no telling what great things could be accomplished over there. If the CH.com was like here, I'm very willing to bet that players and/or people related to the Canes would actually come on and post every now and then. I think I recall reading here that O'Neill used to post at CH.com when it first got its forum.
I think the website itself is very well done, things are easy to find and not weighed down with excess bs and bells and whistles.
Again, I agree. I will never forget when I was checking out various teams' websites out of boredom sometime during the summer of last year, and I went to the Maple Leafs' site. Until then, I had never seen so much Flash animation and crud in my life. Not to mention how that site was not really the most well organized one...definitely more glitter there than information.

I kindly pointed out that this explanation and/or the link to his email is nowhere on the forum, nor would anyone be easily able to find it in order to report a bad poster. I have to step in and give major props to Kevin Clark. His email may not be published as responsible for the message board, but I have sent email a few times to "webmaster@caneshockey.com" and the situations have been handled immediately. In fact, I'd suggest that if someone has an issue with the boards, or anything else on the website, you use that email address, as Kevin may be on vacation or otherwise busy. I suspect a generic email address would have a greater likelihood of getting quick response - although I have never had anything short of quick response on any email I have sent to Kevin, Webmaster, or others.
I don't know Kevin at all, but he has always been responsive, polite, and appreciative of my feedback over numerous email exchanges. I've never taken a tone of voice with him (or the webmaster) that I wouldn't have taken had I been speaking to them directly. Sometimes that makes a difference. :)

The board used to have a mod--me. I finally threw my hands up in disgust and left after the Cup Finals, because of:
1) Detroit fans posting constant trolls on the boards--including several winners that created dummy usernames and pretended that they were "Caniacs" that were against "censorship".
2) Avs fans posting constant trolls on the boards--including one winner that kept up a neverending stream of spam over a period of about a week demanding very loudly to know why I'd deleted his trolls.
3) CANES fans posting nothing but flames and then whining when those flames got deleted or when a thread was trashed because it started to turn into a flamefest.
Every once in a blue moon after that I'd perform perfunctory garbage-collection duties (i.e. trashing blatantly obvious trolls), but Kevin wasn't able to get around to yanking my modbit until a few weeks ago--and that's fine, because I don't go there anymore anyway.
That said:
There's only so much Kevin can do here, peeps. The actual site (and the message board) is hosted in Montreal (yes, Montreal), and Kevin's more or less at their whim for things like banning trolls from the message board--he tells them what he needs, and they put it in their queue of things to do.
He's got more power as far as deletia is concerned, but again--he's got a lot on his plate (and I mean a LOT), and that unfortunately means that he doesn't have time to keep a close eye on the boards.

Take Kevin with a grain of salt--seriously. BAD RCF! Of course, the troll picked on my post, but I don't give a hoot, nor will I feed the fire.
And I take back what I said about the ch moderator in another thread, I feel really bad for him having to put up with all that garbage, no wonder his posts are so curt!

Well--they took it off so serves me right. I had been quiet through a lot of all of that, but I reached my breaking point.
I like both sites, that one has the advantage of being on the canes main site.
Maybe they will hire Caniac to take over the board over there!

Well...if you had the power of blocking people, that would be worthwhile. I don't think one person can do that in a site in general. 24 hour watching. Most sites, including this, have a team of people, so someone is always looking.
I would like to see it happen though. Make CH.com as good (ok, almost as good) as this site.

They have a CURRENT EVENTS board now...CH.com moves into the 21st century!
Seriously...that's a good idea. I like having the opportunity to check one forum or another. Not having to worry in a hockey forum if religion, etc. will be there to weed through.

As long as we're confessing, I fed the trolls too! That leaf creature was using the computers at school. Do you think there are teachers there? He was on all day!
And "Play" was just too much for me! Like SHC, I hate myself for it, but I just couldn't help it.
I contacted Kevin too and he was to the point, but nice. I also sent him an email to thank him for his help, but I didn't tell him I had added to his grief by feeding both of them ;)
It does seem better over there since Kevin set up a Current Events section separate from hockey.
