WOOHOO! :smoke:
My older sister just emailed me and said they were starting their tour in Toyko this week with all five original members. Does anyone know if they're gonna swing this way? I saw them when they played Walnut Creek two years ago ( Nick Rhodes up close... mmmmmmm... lol. I felt like I was having a prepubescent flashback ) and they were fantastic ~ seeing the original guys would be such a head trip. :eek2:

You're such a nut! Rio was in love with him too! :eek2: I was a Simon LeBon girl myself, although I must confess that a man in eyeliner gets my attention every time. http://www.smilies.org/basesmilies3/devil-naughty.gif
Oh, I saw a Behind the Music the other night on Poison, and I thought of our very own in-residence big hair lovin' girl Monie... I actually sat through most of it because it was so frikkin hilarious. You may have caused me some kind of big hair brain madness!

off-topic, and probably a "you had to be there" moment but the other day I had my 9 year old nephew in my car. The radio announced they were giving away Poison tickets. He asked me who Poison is. I explained the big hair bands phenomena to him and he just looked at me and said "oooooh, they're fruity, huh?"

Awesome...I didn't know Saliva was touring with Kiss and the Aeros. Saliva's easily one of the best hard rock/metal bands as of late, if not THE best. Of course, I got the Canes and EA Sports to thank for introducing me to Saliva..."Raise Up" and "Superstar" are not only used at Canes games, but also on EA's Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003.

"The Reflex" was pretty cool...but I'd have to give the "best DD video" nod to either "Rio" or "Hungry Like the Wolf", probably moreso "Rio". The song and video both just rock. :)
You'd think I'd say "Rio" myself, but no, you'd be wrong! Ha! I prefer the video for "A View to a Kill". Can't beat stripey shirts, trenchcoats, and Simon's red Walkman. :D Tres chic. :smoke:

"A View To A Kill" also rules, you can't beat anything with James Bond. Well, almost anything...save Emma Peel (One of my most favorite female TV characters ever!) as the Bond girl, there really is nothing all that redeeming about On Her Majesty's Secret Service IMHO.
Anyway, here are my top five DD videos and songs...
Honorable Mention: "Girls On Film"
5. "Hungry Like the Wolf"
4. "Planet Earth"
3. "The Reflex"
2. "A View To A Kill"
1. "Rio"
I realize that I had "HLTW" mentioned as one of my most favorite videos/songs (Along with "Rio"), but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it's kind of overplayed...though it's still a fave of mine. :)

Okay. . . . I've been holding back on this story, 'cause it's sort of embarrassing and really dates me, but since this thread hasn't died, here goes. This is my best memory of "Hungry Like the Wolf":
Back when "Hungry Like the Wolf" was big, I was finishing up college. One night I'm at this club to see this band play and dance, etc. Well, I drank a few too many rum & cokes (my drink of choice in those days) with my friends, and we were a little juiced up, to say the least.
Anyway, the band took a break, and the d.j. put on "Hungry Like the Wolf." A guy I'd never seen before asked me to dance. We get out there, and as soon as we hit the dancefloor, he howls like a werewolf at the top of his lungs, and makes clawing motions at me with his hands. Since I'm pretty plastered, all inhibitions are gone, so I howl back at him! Then we invent this freakish primitive dance where we're clawing at the air and stalking each other-- 1/2 bent over and circling around each other.
The music's really loud and that song's pretty long, so we're just being like these 1/2-wolves/1-2 cave people or something, when I notice that all the other people dancing have moved away from us and it's like we're putting on this big show -- a Footloose kind of moment. Well! Now that I have everyone's attention, I milk it for all it's worth. So I start crawling around on my hands and knees--growling--scratching at my dance partner. We finish the song on the floor like that, w/this guy acting like he's biting me on my jugular vein and I pretend to die. Music's over--huge round of applause.
To this day-- whenever I hear "Hungry Like the Wolf" on the radio, I put my nose up in the air, and howl like the wolf!!!

Definitely agree with you about "Take On Me", Lady...both that song and its accompanying video define the 80's. As much as I love that video, I'm not sure I'd place that at numero uno on my list of most favorite 80's videos, but it'd be on up there...like around two or three. :spin:

I can't wait to see Skid Row Vince and Poison tomorrow in Greensboro! Wonder if they'll do like last summer and give away free tickets to the next nights show if you have a ticket stub from the previous night? Kast summer I went to see them in Charlotte and then they gave away free tickets to anybody that went to greensboro with a ticket stub from the charlotte show. I got to set front row in the stands (not the floor) up on the extreme left side of the stage for free.
Also can't wait for Kiss aerosmith. I can't beleive Kiss is playing before Aerosmith though. I've seen them both and Aerosmith can't compete stage show wise.

Ah, so Kiss is warming up for Aerosmith? Never would have predicted that myself, but it is a tricky prediction to make as huge as both groups are. But, I agree that Kiss should easily be the headliners...even without the makeup, they've had the most spectacular shows.

Well that was a great show!!!
Skid Row was great! THey have a new album coming out tuesday. The first new Skid Row album in 7 years. The first with their current lead singer. When they played "18 and life" the lead singer got down off the stage and made a lap around the whole outside edge of the floor around the coliseum, shaking hands and high-fiving fans, not many bands will do things like that for the fans. The lead singer did alot of trash talking about "pop" music, and bashed mettalica alittle, saying you can go to skidrow.com and still get free music :D
Vince Neil was good, he apparently was having some audio trouble? During the first 3 or so songs, he kept trying to get sombody on the side of the stage to turn somthing up, he kept runing off the stage during guitar solos. Finally inbetween one song, he said over the mic "I can't hear myself". His band sounded good, they seemed to be good musicians. Vince Did not play an Encore which I thought seemed odd as any other 2nd opener I've ever seen has played an encore!
Poison was just undescribable. They played several old songs that they hadn't played live in years if ever. They played "I want forget you" "Ride The Wind" and "Stand". Stand was really cool to here live! So that was really cool that they changed it up like that! Most of the time I couldn't hear bret singing because the audience was singing so loud! Seemed like as compared to last summer that Bret let the audience do most of the singing lol, he held the mic out over the crowd a whole lot more! It seemed like the band really thought the crowd was into it and gave us an even greater show! Sometimes bands say what a good audience they have but you know they don't mean it because you can tell when an audience is really good. C.C. Played a huge guitar solo, and then did some talking and then decided to play another huge solor for us! They only played one song off the newest album, "Squeeze Box"!
Its safe to say that as many years as Poison has been playing they haven't changed a bit musically or showmanship wise!
And like I speculated above in another post Bret said at the end that he was gonna try to pull some strings so that our ticketstubs from lastnights show would get us in the Cary show free! I'll be at the beach hopefully so I doubt I'll get to go.

You want Bret, CC or Vince?? :p :D ;)
FYI... in the last People, they have info on 80's bands with pics and info about what they are doing now. They have a pic of DD and it mentions their reunion tour. The most changed person in there is Andrew from Wham! He looks really old compared to George, who I thought was very hot but he didn't think the same about me!! LMAO :D

I still love all those 80's bands. The music is like an old friend. My poor Jon singing "dead or alive" could reduce me to tears. No one understood him like I did, if only he would give me the chance!!! Why on earth he didn't know his salvation was waiting for him in N.C. in the form of a angst ridden idiot, i don't know... :spin: I also thought i could save Paul Young. Anyone remember him? My friends made fun of me endlessly for that particular obsession. (Little did they know i had an unholy penchant for Don Ho all through my formative years. Comparitively, Paul Young wasnt so bad)I've moved on now, but fear that one day Michael Jackson will unearth the fan lettter from my 13 year old self begging for him to marry me, and come looking. On second thought, i'm pretty sure im safe on that. Wrong age, wrong gender!

Major Bon Jovi fan here too...have been for years....I just saw them twice in March. Jon is hott, but Richie has always been my fave.
Funny comment about Michael. He started out so normal, what the heck happened?

Rocker Neil Faces Charges For Battery At Brothel
Singer Accused Of Throwing Prostitute Against Wall
POSTED: 1:03 p.m. EDT August 4, 2003
Former Motley Crue singer Vince Neil is in trouble with the law again.
According to court papers filed in Dayton, Nev., Vince Neil faces misdemeanor battery charges for an alleged brothel brawl.
According to the papers, the singer allegedly grabbed a prostitute by the throat and threw her against a wall at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch last month.
The brothel's owner told the New York Daily News the pair got in an argument because he didn't want to have sex with her.
A conviction could land Neil in jail for six months with a $1,000 fine.
Neil, 42, was involved in another alleged battery incident in April 2002, where he was accused of assaulting record producer Michael Schuman outside a nightclub in Los Angeles.
In that incident, the singer allegedly struck Schuman several times in the face in a parking lot outside the club.
Neil's attorney entered the plea to a charge of misdemeanor battery in April of this year. He was sentenced to community service, restitution and to go through a booking process, where his fingerprints were put on file.

Not sure about Saturday, I checked another article and it says "If convicted, the rocker could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. No date has been set yet for Neil’s initial appearance in Dayton Justice Court" so it depends on if they told him he couldn't leave the state..
(as a side note, it is pretty amazing that only 8 cities in Nevada have newspapers, and there are only a total of 15 papers.. including the alternative papers and UNLV's paper.)

I guess the fewer newspapers, the fewer stories about prostitutes getting beat up in brothels... :D

I was going to come over & ask if you saw him!
Did you see the girl that got taken up on stage for Bret? She had a big sign that said "Do me Bret" and he pointed her out to his roadie. The guy lifted her up over the fence & brought her backstage, I can only imagine for what.
Vince looks horrible! I don't know what happened to him, but Poison can still rock!
