Just days after re-signing centre Andrew Cassels, the Columbus Blue Jackets have made another move on the free agent market, signing forwards Todd Marchant and Trevor Letowski.

Marchant signed a five-year deal worth $19 million with performance incentives. Letowski signed a three year contract for $725,000 per season.

The deals mean that Columbus will no longer pursue their leading scorer, Ray Whitney, who is also an unrestricted free agent.
"Both Todd Marchant and Trevor Letowski are valuable additions to our hockey club," MacLean said. "Todd gives us a speedy center who proved last year what kind of production he can provide when given the opportunity to play on one of the top two lines. Trevor is a versatile addition as he can play at either center or wing. Both will provide us with a quick, gritty style that will make our team much more difficult to play against this season."

Marchant is coming off a career year in which he scored 20 goals and 60 points for the Edmonton Oilers. Marchant has played 679 NHL games, all but one with the Oilers. He played a single game for the New York Rangers before going to Edmonton.

Marchant has scored 136 goals and 343 points in his career.

Letowski was not offered a qualifying offer by the Vancouver Canucks, which allowed him to become an unrestricted free agent.

He scored 11 goals and 25 points last year and has 48 goals and 115 points in his 326-game NHL career.
