Jillsmom and I are coming up to the Triangle this weekend and are looking for a place to maybe go hear a live band or do some dancing or some stuff like that. It has been a decade since I lived up there so other than the Longbranch, I have no idea what is up there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.!!!!! Thanks

What kind of music do you like?

I would say Yancey's for blues, but they're kapoot...

TirNaNog always has an Irish band, then usually a newer band after...

The Pour House for modern rock bands

Fox and the Hound in Cary usually has some good Celtic/Irish bands

I have nothing to add here except I recently started receiving this spam that seems to be focused on the Triangle's nightlife and happenings.

The website is

Thanks rcf and Eileen. We checked that website and unfortunately it didn't tell us much about the places like if they were dives or not. When I lived in Durham we used to frequent places like The Switch or Cheers or the NewBar but that was so long ago I am sure they are all gone and have been replaced by something else.

Glenwood Avenue has lots to choose from...I like Hi5....they have a dance floor with a DJ after 10:30..and I heard sometimes a band......fun place....gets crowded though...Bogart's is upstairs and Hibernian and Aura are in walking distance....try out all four!! Have fun!! :spin:
