Forslund just said Forsberg has been dealt to Nashville.
Will have more details later.
So Philly couldn't wait until tomorrow or after the game tonight to do this. Forsberg was needed to give Toronto a loss.

Really only for prospects and picks. We definitely could've swung that deal.

Upshall, Parent, 1st and 3rd to Phi.
Forsburg to Nashville.
That's what I am hearing from the Preds message boards...seems most of them are thrilled. Flyers fans think they got hosed in the deal. Here is a great quote from the Flyers boards...
You people are SMOKING CRACK.
Is Forsberg twice as good as Weight?
Absolutly!
And what did STL get for Weight?
Basically a 1st round pick AND THAT'S IT.. No NHL-Ready Prospects, let alone a leading rookie scorer, no top rated prospects no NHL Roster players (unless you consider Boulerice an NHLer)
So what does that mean? It means the Flyers will get a good deal, but it will be, at best, a couple of #1s and a NON-NHL Roster prospect...NOT a guy like Radulov.
Would you trade Carter and picks for Forsberg NOW? No way, even if the Flyers were in the run.
The rest of the world is in concensus...Nashville payed a lot, but if they go all the way, it will be worth it.

Yeah but like Forslund and Tripp said, if Carolina were to acquire Forsberg, meaning he wanted to come here, Ladd would have been on his way to Philly.
No way do you give up Ladd for a rental.

IF the win the Cup, it's a good deal. If you win the Cup trading Gretzky is a good deal.
If not, they got fleeced losing Upshall, a 1st, a 3rd AND their 1st round pick from 2005, IMO. SERIOUSLY fleeced.

I think NSH gave up on the potential of Upshall- so they probably don't think they gave up much, and I don't think they do. Now if Philly got Radulov, then they woulda got hosed.
Good for the Preds, and thank you hockey gods for ending this Forsberg sweepstakes mess. I just knew it was coming today- it was waaayyyy too quiet and then BOOM.
So the road to the Cup very well may be Nashville. I really hope for them and their fans that they can do it.

Yyyyup....and they were already pretty damn scary!!!
Think about this though...the Stanley Cup winning cities for the last few years COULD look like this:
Tampa Bay, FL
Raleigh, NC
NASHVILLE, TN
Boy, if that doesn't make Canadien, Leafs, and all other hockey fans up North more bitter, not to mention Buffalo, I dunno WHAT will!!

It is my fondest desire that Buffalo makes the Cup Finals....and gets summarily pwnt by Nashville.
Or Anaheim. Either one is acceptable.

Ya'll are too nice!
I want Buffalo bounced in the first round so they can explain to us what happened this year - what injury 'robbed' them of the Cup this year. I don't want them anywhere near a Finals game. Their fans don't deserve it.
Gaustad is out, Connolly is nowhere near returning and now, Afinogenov is now out. Hmmm. They may be crumbling sooner rather than later.
If we're not in it, then I'm looking for a Pens/Preds Final. Just for the sheer entertainment value - two fast young teams, with stars on both sides, and the fact that the media north of the border will have the biggest fit over the team who-may-not-have a home and should move to Winnipeg vs. the other team who is from the south, again. (ah, the kicker!)

Awww, come on SoCal, you know its a foregone conclusion that the Sabs will make it to the finals. ;) They are just that good. Surely they deserve a bye until then. Let the other 7 play for the chance to play them

Notice is served: Nashville wants the Cup.
I know who I'm rooting for in the West now.

Oh no dear, it won't be a ref- they've moved on - you need to get XM- cause then you'll get an earful of BUF fans telling every host who will listen that the Cup would surely have been "theirs" if it were not for their pieced together d-corps and if Jay McKee could've played. There isn't a week that goes by that some moron calls in and says that. Seriously. They've kinda moved on from the foot in the crease but only barely. ;)

Guess we can put it this way from now on:
"It was a goal and we still would have beaten you."

^ How about, "It was a goal and we still would have beaten you, if it wasn't wide right."

I'm on board with Buffalo out in the first round. Swept, if possible. By the #8 seed. Who then gets swept in the 2nd round (unless it's us). And I know at the very least, they won't get the Cxp because their fans are still morons. One actually called into XM today and admitted he'd put money on Buffalo to win it in Vegas recenlty. They just do not get it.
If karma nods off and they do make the Finals, I'm alright with Nashville or Anaheim, whichever, as well.

I wanted it last year, and I want it this year: Carolina Vs Nashville in the SCF's. Not only would it be two southern teams who "don't deserve teams" or whatever, but they're both fast and like to score. Plus, Ward vs Vokoun, now that would be fun.
On a semi-related side note, I did get a Canadien to admit that most southern hockey teams are good, except for Florida, but then again, Im not even sure the Panthers should be a team, so I agreed with him, and then told him I liked them for the divisional wins.:)

You got a Habs player to admit that? Cool! Which one? ;)
