Given the recent economic trends threatening the existence of small-market National Hockey League (NHL) teams, it is of the utmost importance that a counter-force be initiated.
In this vein, it is essential that the Detroit Red Wings NHL hockey club, currently resident in Detroit, Michigan, United States, be relocated to the municipality of Williams Lake, British Columbia, Canada.
Not only will this move help balance the movement of franchises from smaller to larger markets, but will also place another much-needed franchise in the Pacific Time Zone to help remedy the unfair travel disparities faced by western clubs.
The club owner, at his option, may wish to construct a suitable facility for the club in Williams Lake as well, but this is only a recommendation.
