Hard to believe I'm the one starting a thread about this game. wtf people?? lol

Anyway, that was a heck of a show. I thought State was gonna pull it off, but a couple of bad shots & breaks...
too bad. Fun fun game though.

As an aside, ESPNHD... wtf is up with sidebars on an HD broadcast?? ugh. Between the bars, and the constant bottom scroller, I was wanting a bigger tv because 20% of it was being wasted.

I was really sad to see they lost. Guess we've still got Coach Yow and her team . I loved seeing the photo in the N/O of her shaking Kim Mulkey's hand after she'd beaten her team. My sis played at LSU when Kim Mulkey played at La Tech. Hated her and her long pony tail back in the day - still like to see her teams lose.

It just came down to a loss of composure at the end...Fells convinced himself that he could make his shot no matter what, and then when State got another chance, Grant couldn't find the pass that Sidney had drawn up. So it goes. I'm still proud and excited about next year, and even more excited about Coach Yow's team!

Yeah, next year should be interesting. Costner is really a monster, look forward to seeing how he develops.

Any story on why Sidney didn't wear the Red coat last night? I was quite surprised.

In addition to Costner and the maturation/increasing skillset of McCauley and Fells, there's also incoming J.J. Hickson, one of the top center prospects in the country. That's not to mention the two promising point guards we'll have in Javier Gonzalez and redshirt sophomore transfer Farnold Degand. Sid can't stop talking about Degand's ballhandling skill, and he's one of the fastest guys I've ever seen on a basketball court. Plus, when you've got two of the best point guards in ACC history recruiting your players, you know you're goint to get good ballhandling.

As for the coat, the man's got somewhere around eighty custom-made suits. He can't just wear the coat all the time. Plus, I think it'd be great for the coat to become a real point of intimidation. You don't want to other team to think, "We're playing NC State, we're gonna see that coat." You want them to think, "Oh man, he's wearing the coat...we're in trouble."

Good to hear about the pointguard thing. Can't say I've been a State follower by any means, but I really enjoyed watching them/pulling for them the last couple months. I love watching teams with a heavy guard setup. St. Joe's a few years back was one of the most fun teams I've ever watched, the ball movement was just insane, and something you don't normally get to see.

i can hardly be disappointed with the season. we played hard, battled through the ACC tourny, we beat Carolina, I got to see a Reynolds game that mattered... All in a season where we werent supposed to do anything.

I was nervous when we hired Lowe, thinking he was gonna flop since he was like our 80th choice between what, Barnes and some other big names.

Good season, we're above .500, we're only losing one significant player (who was injured for a fair ammount of time, and we've played well when he's had to rest).

Cant wait for next season.

I wouldn't be too sure about that losing one player as sevral scouts have said they would Rate Coster as a first round pick in this years draft after his play the ACC Tourney.

I haven't seen one thing even mentioning Costner leaving, forget about being a first. IMO, he's too much of a tweener to expect to do much in the pros.

Yeah, he doesn't have the size nor the post passing threat to go as an upside pick right now.

As g33 said Lowe saves the red coat for the big games. He wore it in the 1.5 games against UNC-ch this season and then broke it back out for the ACC tournament. He hadn't planned on wearing it during the NIT, however since the 2nd round game was in historic Reynolds Coliseum he decided to wear it for that game.
