Someone posted this at the CH board and I know most of you don't like that board and never go there, but I also know that y'all are scattered all over the arena and may have seen something that could help her recover the pictures of her kids. My intent is not to spam -- I don't think she knows about this forum.

My camera was stolen right after tonights game against the New Jersey Devils (03/15/07). It was stolen after the game ended and everyone was walking up the stairs to leave the arena. I sit in Section 121, Row Q right on the aisle. I was the one who had the sign that read, "Real Men Have Pink Sticks." The camera itself is not what means the most to me, it is the pictures of my children taking their first skating lessons and pictures that my children have taken at the games that we have attended this season. I have reported the stolen camera to the Raleigh Police Department and RBC Center Security, also I gave them the description of the man who stole it. It was a white male wearing a red shirt with a dark beard, and was more likely sitting in the lower rows of either Section 121 or Section 122. They looked at the surveillence cameras after the game to see if the man was still in the building. PLEASE, if you are the man who took my camera or if you know the person who took it, turn it in and NO questions will be asked. I just want the pictures of my children back, they mean alot to me and my family! Thanks

She later posted about the circumstances of the theft and it's just really sh*tty what some people do. =.(

If I had left the camera and come back for it later and it was gone I would have said exactly that, admitted my forgetfulness, begged for it back, blah, blah, blah. However, that is not what happened. Since you seem to need clarity on the subject let me be more specific. I had my camera draped between my husband's seat and mine, I left just before the game ended to go to the other side and my husband said he would stay at our seats until I returned because he has a broken ankle. As I was returning to our section I received a frantic call from him stating that as he stepped into the aisle to allow other people to get out, a man in the row behind grabbed the camera and took off. My husband yelled at him and tried to catch him but was of course slowed by his injury. I ran to the entrance to our section after alerting staff but our section opens at one of the doors to the arena. Several staff members as well as police officers were there almost immediately but by then the thief was gone. We are full season ticket holders as are the majority of the people around us . This guy is someone who was passing through and saw an opportunity and took it. As I have said before, I've replaced the camera I just wanted my pictures back. Even if I had forgotten it, it was not a quarter or dollar as someone else suggested, it was a camera which clearly belonged to someone. It was not turned in to the lost and found which makes it stolen. I hope this clears up any questions regarding the incident. Nuf said!!!

If you may have seen something or possibly have pictures of that section that you could share with her to maybe ID the person, it's this thread: http://forums.hurricanes.com/jforum/posts/list/7174.page

Thanks.

That sucks. My husband dropped his cell phone at a recent game. I was CERTAIN that we'd be able to find it at the RBC lost and found. Nope. Someone swiped it and started making phone calls at 11:30 that same night. Spent the entire weekend making calls (our fault for not canceling it sooner) to TX and AZ.

Man, I wish I could help. I sit in that area but, I'm oblivious. I think I have seen her husband with the broken ankle, though!

Based on her second post there, the way people responded to her inquiry is why most of us hate that board, lol.

I know, I know - I shouldn't do this, but I HAVE to post this little gem. Made me laugh for the first time tonight!

How many times have you found a quarter or a dollar bill on the ground?? how many times have tried to find the owner?? someone taking a camera "they found" and keeping it is wrong but they didn't steal it.

It's somewhat comforting to know that some things never change. lol.

As to the camera & owner, that really sucks, hope someone can help.

meh losing a debit card isnt a big deal. you can have that canceled in a matter of minutes, and most places nowadays have some sort of protection thing where you wont lose your money. You can replace a cheap piece of plastic easily... cameras? those are $$. photos? cant redo those.

OMG. does this person have any idea how ridiculous that sounds?

and what kind of people question or lay fault to the person who posted this situation on the board so much so that she had to clarify what actually happened. Her friggin property was stolen with important things on the camera. I fully believe if she posted here, she wouldn't get that kind of 'reception' to a plea for help.

I once dropped off film to get developed at CVS -after going home to Socal for our semi annual visit, and we did a jaunt to Las Vegas -this was before the digital craze maybe 4 or 5 years ago, so it was actual 35mm film; went back to pick up, and found out that 'something' happened and several batches of photos sent out for developing were "destroyed". I was so upset, literally we had pics that could not be 'redone' stuff at the beach in Santa Monica, family pics, tons of pics of a new addition to our family, long time no see friends pics, and all the usual stuff you'd document on film on a 10 day vacation- POOF all gone. I was so irate that I demanded to speak to the CVS Mgr, district manager and the photo company they were using managers- and I basically flipped out on them. To make amends, and attempt to apologize, they gave us a gift certificate and a brand new camera to make it 'go away'. I didn't want it. I wanted the pictures, and to this day, I hate that I have nothing to document that summer visit.

I hope someone is able to help or saw something. It's amazing what little regard people have for other people and other people's property.

That is the most absurd twist of morality I've ever heard!!

OFFICER: M'am? Do you know this vehicle is reported stolen?
WOMAN: Oh, no, no-- that's not it! I found it! I was walking by and noticed the car keys were just hanging there. I looked around and didn't see the owner. So-- I took it, which some people might think is wrong-- but I really just found it -- I didn't STEAL it!

Yikes! :eek2:

Oh, come one, CL. A car is different than a camera.

/channelling moron

I once had CVS ruin a roll of my film, too. They were pictures of the safari and gorillas at Animal Kingdom from my first trip ever to Disney World....probably the pictures I was MOST excited about from that trip. I was pissed but, they didn't seem to care one bit.

I just wanted to follow up and let y'all know that we found out today that the camera was returned to Lost & Found and the owner has it back. Our understanding is that she got everything back, including the pictures. Hoo-rah!

As for the other stuff, I think there are some folks who just like to stir up things to debate. =.)
