I'm watching the game.

At only 2:40 in.... Jack Johnson w/the 1st goal (Bochenski with the assist)

I noticed that Erik Cole's wearing an "A" :D Grahame's in net.

Edit:

That was quick -- it's 2-0, now! Goal by Stempniak (assisted by Tyler Arnason) at 4:47

Belarus is now taking a time-out!!

Wooo! Chad Larose with a PPG!!

3-0, US!!

Well, at the end of the 1st, the U.S. is really dominating. Ice is really tilted.

But-- also... Belarus isn't very good. :p

4-0!! Chris Clark from a lovely pass by Paul Stastny!

This is fun. Belarus really is no match for us. The whacky Belarus fans are pretty funny to watch-- they're whooping it up, irregardless of the score.

Oooh! Grahame just made a great save.

(I just love talking to myself!!!)

O.K., so final score: 5-1, US!!

It's pretty cool -- they recognize each team's "player of the game," and it looks like they get some kind of commemorative coin/medal, and then play the winning country's national anthem, and then a handshake line. Team USA's Player of the Game was Lee Stempniak today.

O.K.... on to something else....

CL- you're hilarious! Great play by play.... :)

We've been in and out of the house doing Sunday get ready for the week type stuff but saw a bit of it online as we bought the package- Got to see Chad's goal which was a beauty, nobody put a body on him and he just whacked it. Great to see #26 sporting the "A" and he had a couple great EC moves and nearly scored one on a breakaway too. They're starting to gel as a team which is great.

The whacky Belarus fans are pretty funny to watch-- they're whooping it up, irregardless of the score.

That guy dancing in the aisles was soooo funny. But you have to LOVE the passion of these smaller countries. I remember watching the Worlds during the lockout, the Latvians were by far the most passionate and entertaining fans- I howled every day I watched. The girls danced, the boys beat on drums and they were just insane. The cameras were always panning the crowd and the people were just so happy, and you could tell they just were so happy to be there, and to root for their team- I had never seen so many Latvian flags in my life. I expect the closer we get to the big games, the crazier it'll get.

I love that player of the game and gift tradition and the handshake line as well.

Here's a wrap up:

U.S. has little trouble with Belarus
By Steve Keating / Reuters

MYTISHCHI, Russia -- The United States posted an emphatic win over Belarus to remain unbeaten in preliminary round play at the ice hockey world championships on Sunday. Team USA, which has endured a 47-year world championship dry spell, got a pair of goals from Lee Stempniak and solid netminding from John Grahame to keep its title hopes on track with a 5-1 victory over Belarus in Group B.
The Americans got their contest with Belarus off to a flying start and were rewarded with a pair of early tallies from the Los Angeles Kings' Jack Johnson and the St. Louis Blues' Stempniak before the opening period was five minutes old.
Carolina Hurricane Chad LaRose added another goal to close the first, but the U.S. team continued to apply the pressure in the second period with Chris Clark of the Washington Capitals and Stempniak connecting to increase the advantage to 5-0.
Belarus captain Oleg Antonenko had the only goal of the third period, notching his third of tournament. "I thought this was the best game we've played," U.S. coach Mike Sullivan told reporters. "We want to be a team that gets better each and every day, and we continue to meet that objective."
