A new show on the National Geographic channel. It's mostly showing bizzarre, sometimes horrifyingly painful, rituals that take place all over the world.
What I'm watching is very hard to explain just how much pain is involved, but it involves gloves of bullet ants... which are said to have stings 30x more powerful than bee stings. Basically gloves made out of them. Insanity.

Incredibly interesting, but not for the feint of heart.
If you happen to get the National Geo HD channel, you can Really see those skin pulls and whatnot. :eek2:

Bullet ants. Yeah. They're called that because it's the closest thing anyone could find to describing what the sting feels like. Feels like getting shot. :eek2:

After watching the rest of the show, that was Nothing.
Imagine a few guys with razor blades making cuts all over your body for a couple of hours straight. Why? Because after they scar & heal, the skin raises in the cuts, and makes it look like the scales of the mighty alligator.

I saw the cutting rites of passage one. They also have a show on ritual suspensions, which is the only thing I've ever looked at pictures of and actually felt faint.

Yeah, they showed a couple of shots of that as the show went off. Very hard to look at. Even harder to imagine.

This show isn't all that new really. Its hard to turn it when I stop to see whats on thats for sure. Its amazing how some parts of the world can still function in the fashion they do.
