One down, three (I believe) to go!
Hurricanes sign Heerema

RALEIGH, N.C. (CP) - Jeff Heerema signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.
Heerema, 23, of Thunder Bay made his NHL debut last season, scoring three goals in 10 games before being sidelined with a wrist injury. Before being called up from the Lowell, Mass., farm team, the right-winger led the Lock Monsters with 15 goals and 17 assists in 36 games.
Heerema was Carolina's first-round pick in the 1998 entry draft out of the OHL's Sarnia Sting.
Financial terms were not released.
I'm glad to see this. I really think this guy is going to be a powerhouse offensive player for us sometime soon.

Great! Glad to see he's gonna get a good shot to make the team!
3 goals in 10 games, is jus tthe kind of pace we need! (even more is better though). Hopefully if he makes the team He'll be able to keep it up at that level!

Not only 3 goals in 10 games but with only 9.5 minutes average playing time per game. Ryan had twice that and the luxury of being on line with ONeil and Francis. Shot percentage 18.8. I know there are those that are pessimistic about our season if we don't obtain a veteren offensiveman- particularly for our left wing but I do think we have some young guys with a lot of potential and I'm not ready to write the season off.
Funny thing is Mo was quoted preseason last year as saying that one thing the team had was outstanding goaltending and healthy players which is what they needed to do well the 2002-2003 season. He ended up with neither.

Great to have Hereema back, he was a positive influence when he was healthy. I too hope the boys are getting plenty of calcium for those bones this offseason......
I personally hope Mo dont say nothing about the upcoming season, just let it happen, everytime he says something lately, the opposite happens, scary!

Good news. If he can keep up the offense, and add some to his defensive game, hell be a big part of this team
