Sorry, Alicia. For my first try ever at doing fantasy sports, I had 2 teams last year, and did average in Fantasy Points--that league I could understand, but I'm not doing rotisserie again. I sucked in that league. I read the rules, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to win in that league. :lol: I just couldn't figure out how what the strategy should be to win at rotisserie!

I dug around a bit and found Shell's write up on the leagues from a few years ago which helped a lot, thanks. Have a couple of questions remaining...

I'm guessing that since there is no category for defensive stats, such as shots blocked, that, for the purposes of this game, the "good" D-men are the ones who score a bunch.

Will players that have retired or been suspended, e.g. Scott Niedermyer, be removed from the draft or do I need to put them on my exclude list?

Yes, you want scoring defensemen... which are worth their weight in gold in Fantasy leagues, because you normally have 4 slots for them, and having a couple guys that can add points make a Huge difference.

+/- is important as well, along with guys that get PP time, since those points are "extras" too.

Yahoo is not so great about removing people from the rank list that aren't going to be playing. I always try and exclude if I see those in the list.

I hate to drop him before the season starts, guess I'll wait and hope he gets IR'd.

Also have Savard and Kessel, both C's for BOS. Though it looks like Kessel has been getting his time on the wings. I may keep Kessel (always liked him) if he gets officially changed to a wing. If he doesn't, I'll trade him, I don't need 2 BOS C's.

Question: What is a "Util" player? I don't remember this from any I was in last year (although I wasn't in with lgc).

It's a slot where position of the actual player doesn't matter. You can put a Center there, a Wing, a Defenseman..
Any skater can use that position. It allows you to put that third C in if you need to.

I never said I was thrilled with mine either. lol. I didn't see the draft page like in years past.. not sure if it's viewable or not. Best I could guess was going by waiver priority... I'm 4... which means I drafted pretty late in the order.

Out of my top 35, I got 3 picks. #5 (Cam), #6 (Pronger) and #14 (Emery).
My first forward was Savard @ 36.
I got 36 & 37, then 49, then nothing until I was nearly through the first 100 pre-ranked players. Pretty crappy.
Surprised Gagne was still there (at 49). As bad as the flyers were last year he put up some pretty decent #'s.

Unfortunately I don't think you can change your account, I had the same problem one year.

Guyute - You can see the draft results. Click on "Draft Central" on the main nav bar and then Draft Results. You were 11th. I was 8th which may even be worse because I never got an early pick in any round.
I only got 2 picks in my top 30 and only 7 in my top 100. I have 4 guys ranked in the 200's

I have to say I'm kind of glad to have snagged Backstrom (the C, not the G) from the Caps. I probably ranked him way higher than I should have... but this kid could really be something. I don't know that he'll get to play with Ovechkin this year (though probably will on PP at least)... but, he'll be with Nylander if he C's the 2nd line.
I hate how impressive the Caps are starting to look... but it's going to be fun to watch some youngsters. Backstrom had over 40 pts as a teen in the Swedish Elite league. He's going to be fun to watch. And hopefully he puts up some good #'s for me ta'boot. :)

Most leagues have a minimum of 3 goalie starts required, I think ours is the same way. I had a league one year without that setting and when someone would get a shutout they'd bench their goalies and win three stats. Trust me, its better to have the minimum :D

I paid almost NO attention this year for some reason. I've been playing FH for probably 8 years, usually in 3 leagues. This year I only did one league, knowing I didn't want to spend that much time. And I Still had trouble.

I can't even count how many days there were that I didn't remember to set my lines. My worst showing ever. bleh.

I really enjoyed playing again although I really hate a four peat was not in order for LETS GO CANES this year.
