As much as I dislike the New Jersey Devils, I am suddenly very, very interested in this dvd.

"Sports fans can relive the glory and drama of hockey’s most prestigious Championship with the debut of NHL Stanley Cup Finals 2003 on DVD. The first release from the three-year exclusive partnership between Warner Home Video (WHV) and NHL Productions, this high-end collectable DVD chronicles the latest chapter of the New Jersey Devils’ impressive third Championship in nine years and is packed with three hours of exclusive interviews, expert analysis and behind-the-scenes action from throughout the regular season and playoffs."

Sure, the main highlight is the New Jersey Devils but check out the extra stuff!

"• Exclusive behind the scenes Stanley Cup celebration with Martin Brodeur.
• 2003 Stanley Cup Finals Game 7, Period 3 in its entirety – featuring exclusive low angle camera angles.
• 2003 Eastern Conference Finals Game 7, Period 3 v. Ottawa in its entirety.
• Devils and Ducks Favorite 2003 Playoff Moments feature.
• 2003 Stanley Cup Playoff Overtime feature. "

I was under the impression this would be solely Devils stuff, but the added bonus of having the entire third period of one of the most exciting playoff games this season (game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals), plus the Devils and Ducks favorite playoff moments feature, AND best of all a 2003 Stanley Cup Playoffs overtime feature??? This looks great! This is definitely far superior to last year's Hockeytown dvd which was just Red Wings stuff (no offense to Red Wings fans). I'm glad Warner Home Video is helping out! In a playoff season that was absolutely littered with nail-biting OT games, a feature showcasing them is definitely welcome. If at the very least clips of the OT game-winning goals in each case are included I will be more then elated.

Just wanted to throw this out there.

I have decided to purchase this. If people are interested in it but don't want to pay the 30 dollar price-tag I will be glad to in September (when I go back to college and have access to one of my roommate's DVD Burners) burn anyone who sends me or pays for the cost of a blank dvd (2 dollars or less) an exact copy of it. Let me know anytime in the next several months and I'll make a list of people who are interested. Obviously the Canes will not be mentioned at all on the dvd but playoff hockey is playoff hockey and no matter what team you are a fan of this past seasons' playoffs were pretty damn exciting and most of all surprising.

In an effort to not piss off the hockey gods I will not mention who I wish to be the main focus of next year's playoff dvd.

Absolutely. I was all excited about the prospects of a dvd recapping specifically such an amazing run to the cup. When the Devils won and I saw that a New Jersey Devils dvd was being released I was less than ecstatic. The fact that more than just the Ducks' name as the Devils' final opponent will be included in the form of their best playoff moments in addition to complete third periods from exciting (but disappointing finishes) to playoff games AND a review of the OT games sounds awesome. Also, with DVD I can just quickly chapter skip through the parts involving the Devils training camp, etc. as I have little interest in that.

What the crap? This thing is in widescreen and dual-layered? I was under the impression that this would just be slapped onto a cheap single-layer dvd! Instead, they appear to have actually taken the widescreen High-Definition masters of the games (Every Devils game was in ESPN HD and then ABC HD for games 3-7 of the finals) and downconverted them to DVD. This is awesome news for the quality of this dvd. Unfortunately, this means that my previous statement about copying the dvd no longer applies. There are no blank dual-layer dvd discs available (to combat piracy) and I do not know how to split the DVD itself up properly and copy it to two single-layered discs. I don't know if anyone was interested anyway though. :)

Here's a list of the chapters with their running times in case anyone is interested in how much time was devoted to specific series and whatnot. It was a pretty thrilling finals regardless of the outcome and I'm glad to see such a large amount of time devoted to each individual game.. This just details the main feature's running length time, not any of the extra features' lengths.
