Well I guess this is probably the best place for this to go:
The ice at the RBC Center has been laid down and we only have three center ice sponsors this year, although the real interesting point is that the center ice logo will be the special 10th anniversary logo instead of the traditional Hurricanes logo.

Note: this is a direct feed from the web cam so if by chance it is covered up I attached a copy of it to the post.

Actually that hasn't been all that uncommon leading up to the start of the season as I recall. Seems I remember being at past camps and preseason games where there wasn't as of yet a 4th logo on the ice.

Same here - I remember the 4th logo being empty until opening night. Let's just hope that the empty spot isn't filled by HAVOC energy drink (a.k.a. "what the heck does that say???") :eek2:

Is the one on the far right Chipotle? If not, they need to get their butts in gear and get them on board, now that we have them here. They're on everyone else's ice.

Wonder how much it costs, we should start getting an LGC.com banner. Maybe on a dasher. Center ice is probably a bit expensive. lol

Just my 2 cent opinion, but there is no excuse for not having a 4th on ice sponsor. I know it isn't easy, but if they don't have a 4th, they haven't been making enough phone calls and beating on enough doors.

Maybe they are waiting for the artwork? Hasn't the ice been down for about 20 minutes (exagerration) at this point?
When there are 4 sponsors on the ice - I still have no clue what the on ice spots cost and if they've paid full price.

The warning flags along the center ice red line are new right?

And it's Quintiles on the ice.

That is new. Kind of surprised they're allowed to alter the main lines. Maybe they are for preseason, then it will go all solid for Opening? hmm.
Those pics are great... gotta love the look and brightness of fresh ice.

The Lightning have had little bolts in their red line for quite awhile, so I think they'll get to stay.
I like 'em!

They were like that last year, too.
I didn't like the anniversary logo being at center ice at first but, it seems better in those pictures. Now I can see that our primary logo is still pretty prominant. The storm-flad red line is cool.
Wish I could smell it.

Oh MY. It's gorgeous. There is nothing more fab than a brand new sheet of ice. I remember 05-06 just after the lockout , we just happened to be at the RBC, I can't remember what for- and went into the Eye- the guy working in there tells us "they just did the ice today you wanna get a look?" and we were like uh, yeah! and it was just fantastic. With that "Thank you Fans" thing and what SHC referred to - that 'smell'.;)
Shall we take a field trip and go over right now??

At first I didn't like the X logo at center ice but after seeing it in the Hi-res photos I think it looks pretty sharp. Man the new ice really looks good.
Also I think the new red line is pretty cool and a really nice touch.

That looks awesome! I have an early lunch hour on Friday and I'm going to try to spend it at Training Camp. It's so much easier to go when they're at the RBC center. I'll try and remember my camera.

Interesting and funny- in our Penguins STHer box were all those goodies I mentioned in the other thread, along with coupons to various PIT businesses, dinner, discounts and so on- one of the coupons was '1 free dozen donuts from Dunkin Donuts' "for Penguins Season Ticket holders". I wonder why DD isn't a sponsor for us anymore......?

I wonder if it's just that DD doesn't have the presence in the Triangle yet to justify such an expense. I realize that a highly visibile ad is supposed to help all that, but here in N Ral, I run the roads between home, schools, soccer fields, etc and I never pass a DD. When they ran the promo for coffee with the coach, I didn't enter because it would have been a hassle just go out of my way to get to one.

There is a DD on Six Forks south of Millbrook, in Crabtree Valley Mall lower level under the food court, on southbound Capital at Highwoods, in Falls Village shopping center next to Raleighwood Cinema and on Falls of Neuse just before Old Wake Forest Rd., next to Bojangles.
My problem with DD being a sponsor is that they had no game day presence in the RBC Center. No coffee kiosks, no donuts...why be a sponsor if you're not selling in the arena?

Well done. And amazingly, I really don't pass those places on my travels around N Raleigh. :D I guess I'm used to the folks from the NE talking about one being on every corner, which makes me think about Starbucks' visibility in comparison.
But good point about not selling the product in the arena.

I rarely manage to pass any of the DD, either. There are more Daylight Donuts up my and E's way.
I do pass them more frequently than I do the Krispy Kreme. However, KK's donuts are actually worth going out of my way for.

There was an old skit on SNL about driving directions. One of the questions was how many Dunkin' Donuts do you pass on a trip from Boston to Hartford (or some other NE cities). Bonus points for drive-thru's.

I pass none of those. Actually the closest one for me is the one in crabtree and that's out of my way unless i'm actually at the mall.
I do wish they sold DD at the games. What a nice in between period snack.

I pass by at least one of the DDs in N Raleigh twice a day..... and have been known to stop in and treat my team by picking up a few dozen... no one notices me eating a few too many when I buy enough of them to go around ;)
you can't pay me enough to walk into a KK.... different strokes and all that.... not at all wanting to start the donut wars again...
daylights are good too....
I would spend a lot more money at the games if I could buy donuts in between periods.... I'm kind of glad they don't sell them in the arena........

They actually have several DD booths at the TD Bank North Center in Boston, which I guess really isn't a surprise since it is Boston.

For me, it was the DD coffee, rather than donuts I wanted at the game.
The Providence Bruins play in the Dunkin' Donuts Center, although their headquarters are in Canton, MA. about 45 minutes away.

^^CL - I think people thought the thread was named "Icing is down". ;)
I just revisted the link for the ice - it's still impressive. I'm sure all y'all in East Snooterville will enjoy it facing you. Maybe I can get a pass to visit (I promise no panhandling) and see what it looks like from that vantage point (as opposed to my upside down viewpoint from my seats).

 Time to make the donuts.......
You'll have to get SHC to leave East Snooterville along w/her hub's ticket, so that she can get you back in for a peak during Intermission!
OMG! I can just close my eyes, and smell the ice. I'm SO ready!! I can't wait to go back on Game Thread starter "duty!!"

I got to see the ice tonight. It's beautiful! The new logo looks great(even though I think the X is too big and the "EYE" is too small). What looked strange was that the boards were all empty of sponsors. All very white and clean(as was the glass).

Why do you think we've always broken from the pack and sat on that side? I parked in west and sat in east for years. The Cup presentation faced me, too!
Actually, it's mostly because I like to see down the hall into the locker room so I know when they're coming out and, I'd rather watch the line changes than the penalty boxes. Everything being right-side up is just a bonus!

Do you think they actually cleaned the glass this year? I've been staring at the same puck mark from opening night 2 years ago. It's right in front of my eyeballs. :) ...though there is another lovely puck mark from that fateful game 7 I'd hate to see go...that one's up to my left.
