I grew up in northeast Indiana listening to AM 760 from Detroit (Red Wings Hockey), a Wings fan in lean times and finally good times. My wife and I moved to the Triangle in the summer of 2000, and have been Canes fans ever since the home opener that year. I only got to a few more games that first year, but ...

In 2002 I made it to a dozen or so games, and was lucky enough to get to every single home playoff game with a group of friends, only missing the Stanley Cup Finals when I was in England. While in England I watched every game (coverage started at 1 AM) and wore my Canes jersey around the pubs during game days, introducing people to Canes hockey while we watched the World Cup matches.

At about 6 AM of game 3, Larionov scored "the goal" and I finally got to sleep, only to get up the next morning and drive to Scotland.

Upon returning from England I put my deposits down on season tickets! :D

Last year the hockey gods paid back the good bounces the Canes got in the 2002 playoff run. This year, the bounces have to go our way again!

And as way of further introduction, I spent 8 years as a sports writer (high school, college). Hey... I hear that the "N and O" is looking for someone to cover Canes road games...

Welcome to the board caveman! This place is great and the folks are even better. They tell me the beer is in the fridge (but they won't show me where the fridge is so I can't help you there  ).

Hope you like the place!

Yeah, after all the years as a fan I still cheer for the Wings, except when they are playing the Canes. For Wings-Canes games, my desired outcome is for Yzerman to get a hat trick but the Canes still win, 4-3. Yzerman has been my favorite player since my first memories of hockey, and I probably won't stop being at least a bit of a Wings fan until he retires.

Ooga chaca Caveman!

Me Welcome Caveman. Offer dead wooly mammoth!

PS, I'm going to Indianapolis next month. Do you know much about the place? What are some fun things to do in the Hoosier State? I'll be busy during the day, but I tend to get out and howl come night fall.

I've always been partial to a place called Crackers Comedy Club (http://www.crackerscomedy.com/), but then again I love amateur stand-up comedy for its own sake. If you like the dance thing, there are a few dance clubs on the upper levels of the Circle Square Mall, right in the heart of downtown, all linked together with different themes in each one. You pay one cover and move around to the club you like the best.

And while I am quite partial to my new hometown's Durham Bulls, the Indianapolis Indians are a fine minor league club, with a nice stadium to enjoy as well.

Thanks Caveman. I used to work at the Attic in Greenville. They used to have a Comedy Zone on Wednesday nights. It was awesome. We used to get with the comedians and take them bar hopping after the show. I’ll have to try Circle Square Mall. Is it near West Jackson Place? I’m staying at the Omni Severin.

Ha, don't even get me started about Steve. He's one of my favorite people, much less my favorite hockey player. Hope to see you at the Canes-Wings game when they come to town in January. :)
