Sounds like when one team (Coyotes maybe?) tried to draft Ovechkin in the 7th round, the year before he was due to come up, doing some kind of hand-waving whereupon there were 4 leap years since Ovechkin's birth and therefore he could be drafted that year due to number of days and not number of years...something like that. Good try, I guess.
It just seems so much more pitiful/backhanded when it's the Leafs trying to bend the rules...

I think it was Florida who tried to nab Ovechkin in the 9th round that year lol
