OK, well, it took me a bit longer than some of you may have liked, but here it is, My Hurri-Den! This is only a small sampling of my collection of the Whalers/Hurricanes franchise from the past 25 years.

Obviously, when you go to the link, all the pics are in the folder marked "The Hurri-Den". For each pic, I will add a description below.....
1. Canes Corner - Pictured here are my Hurricanes pennant, flag, and Eastern Conference Championship Plaque. Next to the flag is a clock I made just days after the debut of the Hurricanes logo.
2. Canes Cove - Where to start? Well, down the left side of the doorway are autographed cards of Jeff O'Neill, Rod Brind'Amour, and Erik Cole collected from various packs of cards. Across the top of the doorway is (from the left) a Jeff O'Neill/Erik Cole double jersey card, another 2 autographed Jeff O'Neill cards, 2 Rod Brind'Amour jersey cards, a Brind'Amour/Cole double jersey card [just like the one I gave SHC on her trip to London], and Erik Cole jersey card, and another autographed Erik Cole card. Above them are many items, including graded Ryan Bayda and Tomas Malec rookie cards, a Little Brat figure, license plate, 2 mini masks, a Ron Francis jersey magnet, mini zamboni, jersey coldie, cigarette lighter, "Key To The Arena", Katch mask, ticket stubs from opening night 2002/03, 2 mini coffee mugs, a shot glass, puck yo-yo, RBC Center keychain, and window cling. Flanking all of that is the "Origin Of The Species" plaque.
3. My Canes Mobile - Hey, it ain't much (1993 Pontiac Sunbird), but I have added Hurricanes logo decals to the back windows and a licence plate fram to the rear plate. This car replaces (for now) my baby. I sold my Mustang 5 years ago to buy the house you see just beyond the car. It was a 1986 that I customized. It was painted Whaler blue, and was quite the machine. I will post a pic of it at a later date..... my heart is still aching over that one.
4. Ron Francis Jersey Cards (Part 1) - Seen here are various jersey cards and a glove card. Included here are a 1 of 10 autographed jersey card from the BAP Signature Series set, a stick and jersey card from Parkhurst, and cards commemorating the win over NJ and our Finals appearance.
5. Ron Francis Jersey Cards (Part 2) - This is my multiples area. Now, don't confuse this with "doubles". While there are repeats here, what I have done is tried to get jersey swatches of all 4 team colours or the various versions of each card available. From the left (behind the jersey coldie holding the Canadian Flag) are double jersey cards of all 4 team colours, then 3 Topps jersey cards (I'm still looking for a silver swatch of that one), the Captain's Cloth cards (pieces of the C from Ron's jerseys) from the same Topps set in both white and black, 4 Private Stock jersey cards, and then the 3 milestones cards from Parkhurst commemorating Ron's accomplishments (500 goals, 1200 assists, 1700 points). Above them are mini coffee mugs of all 30 NHL teams. Just above the curtain are pucks featuring both versions of the Whalers logo, and a Whalers pendant.
6. Ron Francis Jersy Cards (Part 3) - There is more than just jersey cards here, but you get the point. From the left are another jersey coldie and a team beanie bear. Next to them are the 3 Ron Francis jersey cards from the BAP In The Game Used set, all of which are 1's of 90 or less. Next are the 4 commemorative pucks from the Cup run, as well as the puck I brought home from our Game 1 OT triumph in Detroit (took it right off the ice myself) right in the middle of them. Next to that is the team postcard featuring #10, and the Lifetime Achievers Ron Francis jersey card from this year's BAP Ultimate Memorabilia set.
7. Jacket - This is a winter coat my wife put together for me. Since it can be hard to find any Hurricanes merchandise up here, she bought me the coat and i picked up some logos from various places and she sewed them on it. I have less than $40 in this jacket, and suspect it would retail for well more than that.
8. Jerseys - Here are most of my jerseys. From the left across the bottom is the evolution of the Whalers from New England to Hartford. I don't think I have to explain the ones across the top, but in case you're wondering, that's MY last name on the home jersey.
9. Night Stand - Parts of my collection of Whales and a mini mask along with Canesluver's magnet and a Zamboni bank are seen here in front of my Uncle's MVP trophy from his junior hockey days.
10. Phone & Figures - The goalie mask you see here is actually a phone I have made which is flanked by both versions of the Ron Francis McFarlane figures.
11. Sachet & Can - What would a Hurri-Den be without a garbage can? Anyone else recognize the sachet hanging from the drawer? Yup, SHC brought that up with her on her jaunt north.
12. Scorboard Light - I bought this scoreboard back in the Whalers days, and then wrote to the manufacturer when they moved to Carolina to get the Canes inserts. They were in the process of discontinuing the manufacturing of the lights, and so I got it the Canes sides for free! It makes for great conversation.
13. TV Stand - Some of you may have alreay seen the pic of my wife and myself at the ACC in Toronto, but you didn't see how I have it displayed! The frame and precious moments bear in front were picked up off eBay. The water bottle and loose Ron Francis figure were picked up at flea markets. It's amazing what you can find sometimes.
14. Whalers Coat - My parents brought this back for me from the Hartford Civic Center the summer before the Whalers' last season in Hartford. All my life I dreamt of being on the ice in that arena.... well my PARENTS got to do just that and all I got was this damn coat!
15. Whalers Flag - Yup I got a flag of the Whalers too.
16. Goal Stick - This is a game used Steve Weeks (didn't he play for us in Montreal this year?) stick autographed by the entire 1985-86 Whalers team. I got this at a charity auction when I was 12. I had saved all summer to go to the event where they were auctioning off these kind of items, and outbid everyone to get it. The pic doesn't show the signatures very well, but trust me, they ARE there.
17. Whalers Wall - What kind of a fan would I be if I didn't pay homage to the history of this franchise? Intermingled amongst this are the book "Forever Whalers" (a complete history of the franchise, including bios for every player who suited up for the Whalers, even if it was for just 1 game!), a New England Whlers bobblehead, a team yearbook from Ron's rookie season, team pocket schedules, a Whalers toothbrush, Whalers playng cards, scratch and win Whalers Connecticut State lottery tickets, bar coasters, a Whalers Little Brat, various team pins, a mini mask, mini pennant, AND a letter from Brian Burke when he was GM of the Whalers! I wrote the team to get some information, and he was so taken by my dedication to the franchise that he wrote me back personally. Also in there is a raw Ron Francis rookie card, a graded Ron Francis rookie card, an autographed Ron Francis card, and another Ron Francis jersey card.
Well, I hope that was worth the wait! As I said before, this is just a small sampling. A few of the pics didn't turn out. On top of the TV, I have some other items, such as team pins, the Hardees Ron Francis bopbblehead, a team mini helmet, a mini Stanley Cup, a team puck and 2 mini zambonis, and a fleece Whalers throw that hangs behind the futon. Those pics were pooched by our friends at Wal-Mart! There is more that has been packaged up for the impending move we are hoping to make soon, and some pieces that I just don't feel right displaying, and are under lock and key. Does anyone question my dedication anymore?
