Nov. 26: Kevin DuBrow, the lead singer of the 1980s heavy metal band Quiet Riot, was found dead. Msnbc.com's Dara Brown reports.

LOS ANGELES - Kevin DuBrow, lead singer of the popular 1980s heavy metal band Quiet Riot, has been found dead from unknown causes at his home in Las Vegas, authorities said on Monday.

DuBrow, 52, was found dead at about 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, a spokeswoman for the Clark County Coroner’s Office said. She said an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of death.

“I can’t even find the words to say,” Quiet Riot bandmate Frankie Banali said on his Web site. “Please respect my privacy as I mourn the passing and honor the memory of my dearest friend, Kevin DuBrow.”

I heard a bit on the radio last week with his fiancee going on about how important he was to her, how important he was in her son's life, etc., yet I also heard/read that he was believed to have been dead for 6 days before he was found. It's always terribly sad to me when someone is gone that long before anyone misses them and I can't quite understand why a fiancee didn't think something was amiss.

I'm single and live alone and I know my friends would get concerned after a couple of days. Shoot, one scared the crap out of me knocking on my bedroom door (she has a key) one day, nervous that she hadn't heard from me in a couple of days and that I hadn't responded to an e-mail or two the previous day. (Actually, her memory sucked because I had e-mailed her the previous day.)
