a little optimistic about the acc's chances, aren't we? ;) i think duke can possibly take on arizona but i definitely don't see wake in there. i think maryland has a better chance of making the final four than the deacs, and i don't think they have a good chance.

i'm not done working on my bracket but i do think UK will be in the final four, for sure...

Here's the masked one's Final Four...

Midwest: Missouri
West: Kansas
South: Maryland
East: Oklahoma

Then, I have Missouri beating Kansas and Maryland beating OK. I obviously feel that both Mizzou and the Turtles can pull off a few upsets...and more often than not, that's what I go for with my brackets. I'm still proud of my Creighton pick over Florida in last year's NCAA Tourney. Speaking of the Blue Jays, I got them pecking out the Blue Devils in the second round... :smoke:

Is the West completely stacked or what? This will probably be the first year that I do not put Duke in the Final Four (I almost always have them going all the way, because if they somehow did and I didn't pick them I would feel like a failure as a fan).

Haven't had a chance to work out my brackets yet, so I'll have to see what I end up with.

Go Duke! Go ACC!

I think it'd be funny to see UNC-W take the whole tournament.

I just hope that the Pack can get a little futher than we did last year. That would be awesome!!

I thought that even after 2 starters fouling out, that their play was still excellent. :smoke:

As primarily hockey fans, SHC and I (Mr. SHC) have to admit our ignorance about the term "Basketball Jones." Victorious UNCA coach Biedenbach used the term in the post-game interview, and I just realized I've never known what the hell this is. Anybody able to help out there?

Go Bulldogs, the new pride of the Carolinas. Go Canes, who are just making me pant for next year based on the Baby Canes' thunderous play. :spin:

"Basketball Jones" was a novelty song in the 70s, I think. They used to play it on the AM sports station in Miami (WIOD). The only lyrics I remember are "Basketball Jones, I got a basketball jones, I got basketball jones oh baby ooooh..."

Another "Basketball Jones" lyric I remember hearing in the movie Being There (An EXCELLENT and VERY FUNNY movie, if any of you haven't seen that.) was "I want to go to the free throw line of life." or something like that...

As big a Duke fan as I am and as much respect as i have for the ability of Coach K in the tourney I think my beloved Blue Devils are still one year away. As of right now my Final Four is Kentucky Arizona Florida and Syracuse. Three of those four teams I hate but i gotta call em like I see em. I have Arizona winning it all.

ok, my final four: kentucky, duke, texas, syracuse.

i do not believe duke is a final four team but i think they might just pull it out. all i've been hearing all year is arizona, arizona, ARIZONA and i personally DEFY them to make it past duke. ;) UK is a cinch in the midwest. the south was the weakest region, IMHO, and i only ended up picking texas because i hate UConn and i think Florida is overrated. If i had any guts at all i'd pick Xavier. from the east i'm picking Syracuse. hell, i think State has a shot at knocking out Oklahoma.

i love this time of year. hockey, march madness, and baseball season about to start. WHOOHOO :D
(i only wish we were going to the playoffs)

I know I won't be hearing any more Blue Devil dissing on this forum...

I have always made it a policy to root for all ACC teams in the tournament (except when they are playing Duke), and after all, we are the superior conference!

Although come to think of it, I never really root for UNC, even in the tournament - not that it's a problem this year

duke is leading colorado state at the half right now. creighton got beat by central michigan earlier tonight, that caught me by surprise. i was looking forward to a creighton-duke matchup....

It sure would be nice for SU to come away from New Orleans with a win this time. I really hope there's no buzzer beater like the one by Keith Smart in '87 (?). Give the people up here in Central New York something to cheer for. After an ice storm this weekend the entire area remains under a state of emergency. (Like I said before, we can deal with snow. This ice is for the birds!) :spin: Look for fan shots from the Carrier Dome. Many are watching it there due to lack of power and the party atmosphere.

The cost of a gallon of gas from the only station in town with power... $1.76

Price for a blow-up mattress for power-less friends and relatives to crash on during ice storm...$32.00

Cost of extra groceries to feed a housefull of people for 3 days...$140

Finding out ahead of time that schools are already closed tomorrow allowing you to watch your local basketball team play for the championship...PRICELESS

So you're getting some snow, eh Romney?

My folks in the mountains of PA are getting ice.

I guess NY will get all the lake effect. Yuck!

We are getting a bit of lake effect tonight, only 2-4 inches. We got the ice from Thursday-Sunday. Trees are down everywhere. At the height of the damage there were 130,000 in the area without power. I only lost it for 2-3 hours. So I inherited many friends and family. The only time I was alone was during the 'Canes game. The rest were race fans.

YAY for syracuse!!! what an exciting game, too. i feel bad for the seniors on KU and for roy williams but i'm really happy for jim boeheim. both of those coaches are classy guys that deserved to win.

IMHO, any team that drafts lebron james over carmelo anthony is nuts.

You're right, hyena. It was a great game, but I had flashbacks from the last time they played in New Orleans for the championship. I was afraid Syracuse was going to lose it. SU fans do know how Kansas fans feel. It wasn't that long ago that it was us in the #2 spot.

I thought it was great for Boeheim to mention the players like Coleman, Douglas, and Seikely from 87.

It is hard to say....I think Kansas actually looks like a brighter future for him right now.. and he has been there for such a long time...I will be interested to see what happens in the next week..

They said it was his if he wanted it.. not sure what he will do..

Do you happen to have a link to that clip? The one Caniac posted above doesn't have the beautiful words "I could give a sh*t about Carolina right now" included. And for posterity....I need that one in my collection. ;) Thanks!

Y'know folks, I hate to rain upon the picnic here, but let's take a look at what Roy said again...roll that beautiful Roy footage... (Warning: This isn't word-for-word...)

"I could give a sh*t about Carolina, but I got kids in the locker room that I love." (Something like that.)

Note that he said could, not couldn't...meaning he cares about Carolina, yet doesn't because his team just lost the championship. So, he didn't quite say what you guys thought he did...yet he somewhat did.

BTW, my feelings on this? I don't blame Roy one bit for what he said. Served the reporter right for goading him like she did. She asked him the question once, Roy shrugged it off. Asked it twice, got slammed. Just goes to show how heartless the media is...my dad said it best, the media doesn't care if you just lost the championship, they just want an answer to a potential breaking news question/story before everyone else.
