Hurricane Rookies Visit Eye Clinic To Maximize Performance
07-24-2003

Paul Maurice sends first year Canes for eye training with Sports Optometrist Dr. Mike Peters with Eye Care Associates

Media is Welcome

Sunday, August 3rd, 2003
5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Wolfpack Clubroom
RBC Center in Raleigh

Dr. Mike Peters with Eye Care Associates will lead this unique and informative eye training workshop. “Through Eye Care Associate’s work with professional, Olympic and Collegiate athletes, we have found areas of the visual system that can be improved to help athletes maximize performance,” said Peters.

“We will help these athletes become more aware of their visual performance by possibly adjusting an existing prescription and by focusing on improving eye muscle movement, eye hand coordination, peripheral awareness and the vision’s role in mental preparation specifically for the demands of hockey.”

Eye Care Associates are the Official Team Eye Doctors for the Carolina Hurricanes. Professional baseball players, professional golfers and Olympic athletes have also visited the Eye Care Associates physicians.

“The Canes need to perform at their very best every time,” continued Peters. “They are the best in a sport that is very visually demanding. This attitude of excellence requires us to stay on the edge of technology and treatment advances – which benefits the team and our general patient population.”

Eye Care Associates currently has nine locations throughout the Triangle and the tenth opening in early September. They specialize in comprehensive family eye exams, eyewear, contact lenses, vision therapy and laser vision correction.

...for the appointment JR had with them after not reading the fine print on Markov? Or to help him prepare for reading the fine print on the CBA in 2004? Or to get ready for his eye strain in reding all of the draft versions of the CBA while the team is on strike?

I am ever so glad I just read an ad for eye care associates. are you sure that NCCANES is not Dr. Mike Peters? I really would have thought that as uptight as Maurice is, his rookies would be sent off for colonics!

 Good one ontheboards, my cover is blown.

Alas, I am not Mike Peters (unfortunately, he's done some pretty cool things), but Eye Care Associates ARE my eye doctors.

So when we see them standing on the ice seemingly doing nothing during practice they're probably practicing those crucial eye crunches... imperative for sending those puck stopping glares. Had we know about this secret weapon last season what a difference it might have made. What next.. room raids to see who secretly wears glasses....oh the humanity,,,
