So this asteroid will be passing by lower than some communications satellites on that date. Only to return 7 years later at roughly the same date with a good chance of hitting us!
Now I know that the government would never tell us we're about to be smushed or that it was even likely. They were talking about this on the history channel the other day it was almost scary to think of. They had scientists that said untill it passes by in 2029 nobody can say for sure what will happen in 2036.
Just something to keep in the back of your mind over the next 20 years or so!

yeah we're laughing now but when Nasa says they aren't sure about its future things aren't so funny. Or maybe I'm one of few concerned with a horrible demise?

So does this mean the Leafs are going to win the cup in 2036?

Don't tell me--you stockpiled ammo and canned goods in preparation for Y2K, too.

2036.....I'll be 63. That's good enough.

The next house we buy will have a basement for pooltable, bar, cigar lounge, etc...
that'll be good enough to call a bunker. And if it all ends while I'm down there, and it wasn't enough of a bunker to keep me safe, at least I'll have gone out happy. :p

If an asteroid big enough to do catastrophic damage hits the planet, you better stock that bunker very well, lol. It'll take about 10 years before the atmosphere is breathable again.
I'll position myself directly in the center of the projected impact, thanks. The whole re-build, re-populate thing sounds like too much trouble to me.

Yeah, way too much work. Like I said, I'll be in the bar/billiard room/cigar lounge. I'd rather go out immediately than have to try and survive on canned goods and sharing the earth with the roaches and few random people I might encouter, a la The Stand. Pass. :)

I'll take 'The Stand' like scenario. You see, Earth will need a young charismatic leader to lead them on. I see myself filling the bill nicely.

I've already sent the asteroid an invitation to "drop in" when it swings by the second time. I included directions using Google Earth. I guess if I move now, the new owner's gonna be really pissed.

please tell me that you told the asteroid to visit buffalo. please.
think about it... we can make the great lakes even greater. and provide a new home for water from the rising sea levels... and reduce the NHL to 28 teams.
