Aaron's been back in the BOS lineup- he's back to being A Ward- which is good for him. He really fits in well in Beantown.
We "seem" to have the B's number for the most part; I'll take that back and say, we seem to be able to find a way against them- but the Bruins do have a pretty good team, they're battling hard & they're not as pitiful as they were last season, even without Bergeron. So let's see what happens now that the so-called shake up has taken place.

Well, I won't be able to watch tonight's game, on account of it being my bunko night. I will say, however, that our record on bunko night is pretty good. The last conflict occurred coincidentally with another game against Boston and IIRC someone won a tractor in that one.

And.....let's see...now that Stillman isn't messing things up on the PP, and with Corvo now back there instead of WHITNEY (thank GOD!) I'll say we go 2 for 5 on the PP, with Joey getting at LEAST one assist tonight. :D

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=13267
In other health news, Chara had the day off because of a muscle cramp he suffered during the game against the Panthers. When asked whether or not he would be playing in tonight’s game he responded “GAAAARGH! GHHAHHRHAHAAAAAH!” and then he ate an entire live chicken. I sent away to NASA and they figured out that what he meant to say was “yes”. It turns out NASA is the only organization with equipment powerful enough to transform Charaese into English.

No your math isnt' bad. We are short a forward. I just checked the canes website to see if maybe Nolan was called up, but nope. Guess we are playing a man short tonight, cause last I heard Eaves said he wasn't ready yet.

02-12-2008, 12:44 PM
I have a soft spot for Bayda. True story:
Remember The Eye store that used to be adjacent to the Crabtree Mall food court? Several seasons ago, I walked in there, and I spotted Bayda. He was trying on different hats, and using his reflection off a chrome column in the store as mirror. As I passed him, heading to the t-shirts, we made eye contact, so I said, “Tough decision?” (NCC will tell you I’m pretty good at “small talk” with the players…. )
“Yeah. I’ve got it narrowed down to this one… or this one,” he said, while he modeled each of them for me. So I said, “Well THAT one looks like something a fan would wear, but THAT one looks like something a player would wear.” And then I WINKED at him!! like…. “your secret’s safe with me, kid!” I did notice he bought the one I recommended (and I was TOTALLY B.S.-ing him!! )
He was probably thinking, “oh great! Some old chick just tried to hit on me!!”

Ugh. No Williams, no Cullen, no Stiller, no Eaves. I've liked Aucoin's feistiness and -- is it my imagination or is the smallest guy on the ice the only one going to the front of the net (his goal vs. NJ)? Maybe Bayda will follow along and break the apparently unspoken team rule about going to the front of the net. ;]
We'll see Corvo on the point on the power play, hopefully Staal too. Hopefully we still see Staal on the PK (although in the "what can I wish for" department, maybe I'll wish not to be shorthanded at all tonight...).

Go little Sammy- That was an awesome play. I now have to get to practice to see the little drill that Samsonov does that Tripp referred to.
There's a crispness in their play tonight. I have no clue what that means, but they are moving and playing with purpose.
LTD- no it's not your imagination- Whitney has taken alot of penalities- I'm calling it the Commodore disease.

Chara - you a$$
Aw, c'mon. That wasn't intentional. It had everything to do with his height. Hard to help your elbow being level with the d-man's face. He belongs in the box for it, though, and that's where he is.
IceSun
02-12-2008, 08:31 PM
SHC - Yes, I overreacted to the initial hit - could see it was more incidental than I originally thought on the replay.
Can't believe that ending and that we let Thornton get his first two goals in 4 seconds.
Looks like they wanted to brawl at the end.
And LTD, yes Whitney has picked up for Commie as a hooking machine in the last 3 games.
Moving back to the bright spots - great way to take advantage of the Top 6 opp by Ladder & Sergei continues to impress. Not only was the move around the net for the first SOG beautiful, but to get the rebound change direction and bury it was art.

Overall, pretty well played game, though. Flukey mess at the end. They were winning the battles, beating them to the puck and going to the net. It just makes you ask where the hell that has been the rest of the year.

I don't quite know what is wrong with the Staal troika- but they have not only the passing disease- they're not playing as a line- it's all chaos disorganized whatever you call it.
I agree what a way to eek this out. They did play a solid game overall, and then the Shawn Thornton attack- good grief his first two goals as a B?

It wouldn't be a Canes game if we didn't allow a player from the other team to get their first and second goal.
Cam had a great game. Probably would have liked to have that first one, but the 2nd one, somehow that just trickled through and he did the right thing by not moving. Oh well, wouldn't be Canes game without going into cardiac arrrest
This team pisses me off though. How can they look like a bunch of mighty mites one night, then the very next actually look like professional hockey players.
With Stiller gone, Ladd gets a chance to prove why he was a first overall pick and why we traded down for him. He didn't let down tonight. Great game by #16.
Staal's working hard, the points will come, just keep working. And I must be dreaming cause I saw Cole backchecking

ok, I'm kidding and I'm not mocking anyone here - just laughing at the crazy ups and downs experienced weekly. Reflecting upon this crazy season, I've learned in the last 4.5 months that
a) We can win any game vs any team (sometimes big)
b) We can lose any game vs any team (sometimes big)
c) It takes three games to make a streak
d) We are neither the best nor worst team in the league
e) I hope we do make the playxffs, and will be there losing my voice and loving every minute of it, even if we get swept (though that would really suck :D)
f) Our biggest problem has been consistency. Either we sort it out and we do well, or we don't and we start looking at draft picks. Ultimately, despite all the gloom talk, I think our cardiac Canes still have some good surprises left and showed they aren't ready to implode yet.

Wow some gets to the front of the net and we score a goal... who would have thunk it. Pretty good game overall, the last 5 mins were freaky, but Sergi, Ladd and Brindy defiantely seemed to have it going on. I also like the Walker, Aucion, Bayda line they definitely brought the energy.

BTW did anybody else hear Forslund call Frankie, Tomas Kaberle tonight and then catch himself.
Aww, wishful thinking abounds
Yeah I heard that and said 'hmmm even John would rather have Tomas'
