My 13 year old daughter is learning to play hockey and needs used equipment. Does anyone have an idea of good places to check? We already went to "play it again sports" in Cary but their old stuff was almost as much as new stuff at Dicks. Thanks for your help.

There is a sports store that I'm pretty sure sells lots of used equipment in the Pleasant Valley shopping center off of Glenwood Ave. It is the same shopping center as Best Buy but on the opposite side. Above it is Hard Wok Buffet and I believe there is a Starbucks next to the sports store. I don't know why I can't remember the name.... You might know what I'm talking about though. If not, I can see if I can find the name of the store.

Folgers, what you mentioned is another Play It Again Sports...there's also one in Chapel Hill in the shopping center where A Southern Season/The Weathervane store and restaurant are.
There is also a Play-it-Again on Strickland, in N Raleigh (get off 540 at Six Forks, go south, and turn right on Strickland... in the shopping center on your right). That and the above mentioned location on Glenwood are the best places I have found to buy used/new gear. The one in Cary sucks.
Also, ebay is good, as well as http://www.hockeygiant.com and http://www.hockeymonkey.com for new stuff. I recommend going to Cool Sports or one of the Play-it-Agains and getting a feel for sizes, and then ordering it online (summer means good sales). Also, those online places carry female gear and pelvic protectors (which I highly recommend for your daughter).
If you need any more information, I am female and play hockey (although I am 27 and not 13), so feel free to PM me with any questions.
