Just got an email from the Canes. Ray Whitney lithos will be distributed at a table behind section 113 from door opening to the end of the 2nd intermission during these 4 games:

3/16 vs. Ottawa
3/28 vs. Atlanta
4/2 vs. Tampa
4/6 vs. Florida

You can also pick them up Monday thru Friday from 9 to 5 at the VIP entrance. Tell the guard you want your litho. Bring ID.

Ray's lithograph was a disappointment. He looks like he is in pain.

I got mine at the STH party. I didn't notice b/c well I don't pay that close attention, but a buddy of mine said that the skates they are having him wear aren't the skates he wears, or it was the stick, can't remember which one now.

I think our own resident equipment geek had a dissertation on that one.

Also, the ray whitney lithographs are impossible. Ray Whitney is using an easton s17 stick, a stick that was released this year, and ray has used... BUT... Ray is wearing skates that he hasnt worn since the Cup year. and pre playoffs at that. What the hell.

Is a matter of opinion. I like it as do several others I have asked. Also am not too worried about which skates he has on.

Just another opinion.

You are still an equipment geek though.

I like the litho too, in fact I liked it a little better than a couple of the other recent ones.

They probably just take a photo - could have been an old one-- and then re-create it.

I don't notice the equipment at all. I couldn't tell ya what kind of skates anybody wears, or what kind of stick they use. I'm pretty much:

Are they wearing skates? yes
Are they holding a stick? yes

I think it would be neat to have them all garbed up in their gear from head to ankle...then put 'em in the man slides that are so popular in the warmer months. Now THAT would be a picture.

Actually, they give me a number of photos as reference (four this year) and I composite together in a pencil sketch... sketch gets ok'd and I lay in colors...
of course I try to make as accurate as possible, skates just got by me this year...apparently everyone was happy with this (RW included)... you certainly try to make them look as good as possible... and , with action shots and scrunched up faces, that's not always easy...
First time I've heard of the "pained" complaint...

So, what are you telling us, Lobster? You're the artist. Nice.

Do you have lobster hands? When we were in Moscow 4 years ago, I bought a couple water colors from a street artist with lobster hands. He did nice work, too.

Hey Lobster, welcome to the board.

I always wondered how they were done, whether it was an actual photo that was just redone by an artist or what. That's cool that you put together several photos to make the lithograph. I think they look great, probably one of my favoirte Canes collectables.

Lobster-
Did you do the Cam Ward litho also? My husband won one autographed by Cam and we were looking at it and it looks like it was also signed by the artist. Was this you?

Thanks much!
Yep, getting the head/face right is big (I mean "Giant")... most of the action shots have squinched up (?) faces or goofy expressions, so it takes a few shots composited to get it right... and then you still have to make it look natural!
They've all been fun to do...
Yep, did Cam last year...

No way...I SO have the shots for a Staal or Brind'amour litho - Two of my favorite pictures...with no funny face to get rid of.
I'd have to look for my favorites - but what about Determination? That'd make a good one!!
