View Full Version : What do we need?

Besides more diversity?

So what do you guys want feature-wise? Things I should be adding?

We've got the photo galleries (which I thought would be a big hit, but has been lukewarm), the ticket rep ratings and comments, the current playoff contest (which I want to spin into some sort of contest running at any given time), the front page's CMS can easily be made into user blogs if there's any interest (I'm betting not, LOL).

Basically what I'm asking for is what do you feel like the site is missing? How can we drive more users to register and post? How can we drive the site up a notch, get it even more popular?

I'm going to make the ads disappear for "premium members" soon. What's a premium member?

"A premium membership will soon eliminate any ads, you get unlimited photos and folders in the gallery, access to a forum to be set up just for premium members, an LGC email address and possibly a blog here. Some combo of those, or maybe a pick 3 or something depending on the membership."

I'm thinking a premium membership would be a couple of bucks a month or something like that. Maybe 15 bucks for a year, or some sort of tiers.

I'm not trying to make any money off the site, but it would be nice if it came somewhere close to paying for itself. ;)

Don't worry, everything you use right now will remain absolutely free, and these type of ads will be all there ever will be. You will never be annoyed to death with popups or ads in the middle of threads.

Thanks for any suggestions.

This isn't a "what we need" post but I couldn't find the thread that discussed it, but HOLY COW I just spent WAY too much work time reading every post in that Canes/Devils Game 2 thread. :D

Thanks Caniac. That was a FUNNNNNNNNN read.

Taller? The last request was to "average out" the mod height, so puck_it was brought in to bring down the avg.

what are you? "the man"? "the establishment"?

And the sign said long haired freaky people need not apply
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said you look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do
So I took off my hat I said imagine that, huh, me working for you

Perhaps having mods who could spell, or capitalize, would also help. ;)

Seriously, the conversation is why I'm here, and I think this group does such a good job within the threads of linking to sites, articles, interviews, etc., there's little need to go anywhere else.

And FWIW, some days this place is the only thing that keeps me from jumping off the ledge, so thanks!

I'll attempt to steer this thread back toward seriousness. I think the site does exactly what it is intended for, to bring Canes fans all over the globe together to chat. Adding 'frilly' features aren't going to drive an increase (IMO). We need a catchy slogan like, "The official unofficial Hurricanes Home" and some coorporate sponsorship. We also need to get the word out that WE are the place to be for Hurricanes fans. How to do this? I'm not sure.
