Even in the off-season, it continues...and Olli again

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tim Gleason suffered an undisclosed injury while playing for the United States at the world championships and did not play in a 9-1 win over Norway on Monday.

U.S. officials were "hopeful" that Gleason would play today when the United States faces Finland in the quarterfinals, a USA Hockey representative said.
Gleason was injured in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Finland when he was checked from behind into the boards by Florida Panthers center Olli Jokinen, who was ejected from that game and suspended for one game as well.
Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford said Tuesday the Canes believe Gleason to be OK and that the injury is not concussion-related. He missed a February game with a concussion. Coincidentally, Gleason also missed 13 games when he was hit with a Jokinen shot and broke his left foot in December 2006.

It's funny how this is now "news" when it happened on Sunday - and we've been talking about it in the World Championships thread since then. Luke's sleeping on the job apparently or it's a slow news day and they decided to report it. I mean you'd think they'd get info out quicker since the Worlds are happening in North America- it's not like we're time zones away or anything.

Now if we can actually find out what exactly is wrong with Timmy and if he'll play today vs FIN that would be great. /sarcasm.

On second thought, keep Timmay out of this game since Jokinen was only suspended for a game, I'm sure he'd be out head hunting him again if he's playinig.

Well hopefully he is OK like the team (JR) says. And can Jokinen please go out West so Timmay won't have to see him but once. I'm tired of that piece of trash hurting my Timmay.

car3hur that is easy...good old Olli. I hate him for years, TRY to kiss his butt enough for his team to beat the Caps and look what happens..and then he hurts Timmy. He just better be glad there is no open season on hairless Finnish goons. :evil::mad::lol:
