Ron Francis has been named by ESPN Page 2 as its #1 most underrated athlete. Barry Melrose actually says Ronnie is the most underrated NHLer of alltime. Two impressive compliments coming from people who usually spend their time bashing anything associated with the Canes.

Ron Francis becoming a Hurricane was/is the greatest thing that happened to this franchise. Not only has he been one of best Hurricanes on the ice, he's also set the tone for the players and fans and his influence on this organization will go on for years beyond his last game on the RBC ice (even if he doesn't take a front office job). :D

Finally someone admits it...the poster above summed it up perfectally...
He's the reason hockey remains in North Carolina today, and part of the reason that the RBCC is continually filled with hockey families screaming their lungs out...

I am in awe when I go to games but especially at the Reczone practices of the fact that I am literally standing a few feet away from THE Ron Francis. Just an unbelievable athlete and one that noone ever has anything bad to say about when brought up in athlete discussions. It baffles my mind that he is so underrated..... It's awesome that the Canes' players are being given the chance to learn from him. He comes across as a real father figure to some of the guys out there.

VERY nice. In these days of player's egos and ridiculous salaries, it's nice to know that we have such a genuine person in our organization. I think people may never bring Ron's name up when discussing the "greatest of all time", but that's just fine with Ron and just fine with me. The banner that will no doubt one day hang from the rafters in the RBC and the plaque that will no doubt one day be hanging in the HOF honouring #10 will do just fine.

I just went back and re-read the article (I'd just skimmed the other athletes). Noticed that there's an online poll on the right side where you can vote. Ronnie is leading the online poll with 28% of the vote (so go vote and keep him in the lead!).

Yep, I did my part and voted yesterday...it's good to see so many in agreement. Hope it stays that way. :)

Wow! Went to espn.com today and there was a Ron Francis looking back at me!
Guess the underrrated athlete list from last week finally migrated to the front page.
