Rosie is officially headed to arbitration, along with the following 14 other players.

TORONTO - Ottawa forward Antoine Vermette and Florida defenceman Jay Bouwmeester were among 15 players who elected to take their teams to salary arbitration, the NHL Players' Association said Saturday.
Joining them were centre Brooks Laich and defenceman Shaone Morrisonn of the Washington Capitals. The only other club to have two players go that route were the Minnesota Wild, who are set to have hearings with forwards Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Stephane Veilleux.
Also on the list: defenceman Dennis Wideman of the Boston Bruins; Carolina forward Chad LaRose; right winger Marek Svatos of the Colorado Avalanche; New York Islanders forward Sean Bergenheim; newly acquired centre Dan Fritsche of the New York Rangers; St. Louis centre Jay McClement; forward Marcel Goc of the San Jose Sharks; Detroit centre Valtteri Filppula; and Nashville defenceman Ville Koistinen.
The deadline for teams to decide to take players to salary arbitration is Sunday. Hearings will be held from July 20-Aug. 4.

Interesting news. I guess Seidenberg's content to work-it-out.
Here's DeCock's take on it:
Chad LaRose was among 15 players to file for arbitration Saturday. Dennis Seidenberg, Carolina's other arbitration-eligible restricted free agent, was not.
Hearings are scheduled for July 20-Aug. 4.
What's this mean? Not much for now, because it's mostly administrative. It means if LaRose can't reach a contract agreement before the end of the month, he'll get a contract through arbitration. And it means Seidenberg thinks he has better odds of getting a good deal through negotiation than he does through arbitration.
The Hurricanes have only gone to arbitration once in the past decade, with Jeff O'Neill in 2000.
The deadline for teams to file for arbitration with players is tomorrow at 5 p.m.

I'd hate to see LaRose getting to arbitration. He's a good little player and all but he isn't all that good. He's great for a fill in and good for our PK and good energy guy, but if he's looking for like $1M or more, I'd say walk away from him. Personally $800 is as high as I would go for him.
Hopefully things will work out with Seidenberg soon.

If he were looking for 1 million or more I'd be stunned. And then fall over laughing.
He's a 4th line role player. Unfortunately for our 4th liners, there ain't much money to go around given what we are paying our top 9. Rosie was very happy when he got an unexpected 1 way offer at the end of his rookie contract.
I realize he's valuable to us, but he's getting an automatic 15% raise (and continuation of a 1 way deal that it's based on). That's 575,000.
Oh well, good luck to all. Since we haven't had any player's go to arb since forever, I don't really pay much attention to those that do and I certainly don't pay attention to those making so little (sorry Chad). I'm curious what he'd actually get from arb hearings, but I don't want them to actually go.

Just thought it deserved a thread of its own given its topic, potential to go on for a while, and given the fact that the thread it's being discussed in is a rather long one and has covered so many different players and situations...oh well, I've been told  so mods, lock this one down.

Yeah, I agree with you both- my thought was the one way deal he got after we won the Cup, and I know they all have to maximize their earnings- that's the business side. Chad is a great role player for us, but he's not a $1 million role player or 800 or 900K. If his junior scoring touch somehow translated into goals, then I'd be saying something different. Chad could easily be Keith Aucoin or Ryan Bayda- but he got a break and he made his break. I just think he should really think hard on whatever they've offered him.
Like JR says-in his budget, he has players slotted at a certain amount- I don't blame him for staying that course.
Still it's tough, cause you want things to be harmonious. I just hope they resolve it before they really do have to sit with the arbitrator. From all accounts that whole hearing thing can be brutal.

I see the other thread and agree it's worthy, but since the discussion here is ongoing, I'll just add my comments here and hopefully a mod can merge.
Thinking about this made me think about KAdams. Did he ever make 7 figures? I just can't see that they (Chad's camp) are in that neighborhood. I'm wondering if the Canes just want to stick to the QO (or close). But I do understand Chad fighting for every 100k he think he's deserves.
I agree, his career could be on the other side of the hill with Aucoin. He probaly wants (and should) try to sock away as much $$$$ as possible because you just never know.

LaRose scored 11 goals last season playing on lines that he'd normally have no business playing on and got ice time he would never normally get. KAdams made $725K (IIRC) and CAdams' contract was negotiated at $600K. Letwoski and Hamilton, both signed to be 3rd line centers in a feeble attempt to replace Cullen, were given contracts for $800K. LaRose strenghts are his speed, ability to draw penalties, be an "energy guy" and play on the PK. Unfortunately, ther are lots of guys who can fill the same role. While I don't think he should necessarily take a hometown discount, he is what he is here-- a 4th liner. I am sure JR gave him his QO with the expectation there may be some wiggle room, I don't know that LaRose will get much more than 4th line money. If he wants more than that, well, I really hope he gets it. I understand Columbus is offering former Hurricanes big money to reach the cap floor...

I like Chad but what does he expect to get? Wonder exactly what he thinks he is worth as opposed to offer sheets?

I doubt he's asking for $1M ... I'd bet JR's looking for something in $500-600K range and Chad prolly is hoping for $800K. I'd say get him to take less by giving him three years.

I'm not sure what to make of it, but LaRose seemed like a different player after he recovered from the broken leg. He was more aggressive on offense and was actually scoring some goals. It could have been a fluke I guess.

I'm guessing it was coming off an injury in a contract year ;)
