View Full Version : Mineral Foundation

Have any of you other chickies used a mineral foundation that you like? I've been using Clinique liquid foundation for years, but I'm finding that as I'm getting older, I don't want to look "made up", and the liquid foundation can look kinda heavy sometimes. I was investigating mineral foundation , because it has an SPF, but I think there must have been 25 different companies. :/ Any suggestions?

Pffffffttttt...no boys allowed, puck_it!

I'm also interested in hearing responses...the mineral foundation seems like it would be drying to the skin. ??

Well IMO, you are just gorgeous ..make up or no make up!!:kiss:;)

I used Clinique for a while.. now I just use Cover Girl! :D

I really wanted to try Bare Minerals, but I thought it was a bit pricey for something I wasn't sure if I'd like.

So, I bought the Maybelline mineral powder foundation at the drugstore. I LOVE it. It's perfect and exactly what I was looking for. Very light, blends in really easy, but gives a nice powder finish. It evens out my skin, but doesn't make it look like I'm wearing foundation. For the price, I think it's really worth a try.

I don't think I'll ever bother with liquid foundation again. Watch them discontinue this product just because I love it so much!

ETA: One more thing...I'm actually not sure if the Maybelline has SPF, so it might not be what you're looking for.

I've been wanting to try the mineral foundations too - they make it look so easy on the infomercials! Meanwhile, I'm partial to Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse. It's very light and blends well. Since discovering it, I've had a couple of comments where people have said 'Your skin looks perfect' rather than 'Your makeup looks perfect' so I say that's a credit to the foundation. :)

^ I think we're on the same page!

I use Bare Escentials and while it is pricey it has lasted me a very long time. The technique does take a little getting use to but I have had no problems with my skin at all after using it and I have very sensitive skin. I only use their products now with the exception of mascara and lipstick/gloss.

I am a good but older than Lady J though so mileage may vary.

Lady J- I agree w/Mona, no makeup required for you !;)

I'm also a mineral foundation convert- I use Philosphy products and their mineral make up line is really amazing- and lol, it's called "Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas w/ SPF15" it's an all in one- foundation, concealer and powder, and the idea is that the skin looks smooth and "airbrushed". I little goes a long way, and the coverage really allows for your skin to look natural, but 'finished'. It's talc free and fragrance free which I need because of the ol' sensistive skin- it's a about 40 bucks but worth the money. I won't go back to traditional foundation for sure.

Wow! Thanks so much to all you lovely gals for the input! I had tried the Bare Minerals at one point a few years ago, but it didn't agree with my skin for some reason, although I suspect now that the type of brush might have been to blame more than the actual make up. I recently bought a sample kit from a company called Signature Minerals - they're supposed to be bismuth free, which I believe is the ingredient that might cause general irritation. I haven't tried it yet, but it's great that you can buy a 5 powder sample for only $6.00. I will go look at the Maybelline and the Philosophy, too. :)

You know, it's too bad that I can't just keep using the Clinique. It's one of the few brands that doesn't make my face feel like it's on fire, but as I'm getting older, I feel like I'm looking more and more like Caspar the Ghost when I put my make up on. :P I have the added problem of being really fair skinned, so it only heightens the " covered in chalk" appearance. :D

And on that note - does anybody use a bronzer ? I've been eyeing them with suspicion. I've used bronzing powder before, but that was when I was young and foolish and thought perhaps it might be believable to other people that I was out on the beach. lol

Mona2006

I have used bronzing powder/blush before but you have to be so careful with it. I have mixed it with regular blush to lighten it up because even with a real tan on my face, it tends to be too dark.

I will have to try the Maybelline.. if you can catch deals at CVS on makeup, you can save a lot. Often they have BOGO free or 50% off the second item.

Take care J.. hi to Miss Rio!

I'm not a slave to any one brand-- but what I have the most of us is Revlon & Mary Kay. Have never tried the mineral stuff-- I like a liquid foundation.

For the past couple of years, now, for a foundation, I've been using Revlon's Age Defying liquid foundation. Julieanne Moore has very fair skin, like me, and she was doing their print ads, and I thought she looked gorgeous and not overly made-up. I think it's a really light-weight feeling foundation.

Of course, I've got 10+ years on you, Miss LJ, so you're probably not yet ready to defy your age!!!

One thing I do want to recommend, since we're on the subject of make-up...... Lash Blast mascara by Maybelline. It really does what it says it will do, and I'm just loving it! :D

Is it hard to remove? I love the Lash Stylist Maybelline mascara with the comb because my eyelashes are long but have no curl.. the comb helps them have more curl... but it is really hard to get off even with their makeup remover. I wear waterproof especially this time of year because I sweat.

I use MK's Oil-free eye make-up remover, and it seems to come-off just fine. I'd say it's "easy." :)

You know, this might sound horrible, but I use Vaseline to get mascara off. I just have to be sure that I wipe it off thoroughly so I don't end up with sexy raccoon eyes the next morning. :D Personally, I love the Maybelline Great Lash - I use the waterproof version, and it never misbehaves. Of course, I have to use an eyelash curler beforehand.

I wear quite a bit of Mary Kay as well - I wore a liquid foundation they made for years and years until they discontinued it. :| ( note to self - don not ever admit to really liking a product lest they stop making it. ) Our Mary Kay lady had a clearance sale, so we stocked up on crazy colors. :D Otherwise, MK in general is too expensive for me to use all the time.

I hate to admit this, but the reality is...... I have the eye make-up remover... but... more often than not, I just go to bed. I'm pretty bad about taking my make-up off when I go sleep. I'm not much into "glamour routines."

Nobody's mentioned eye-liner, but I have a brand I love, and it's cheap, cheap, cheap. I like liquid eyeliner, and NYC cosmetics makes a great one. A nice fine-point, and it doesn't bleed or cause raccoon eyes... and... it's only $1.99 or maybe $2.99.

I have to use a curler before applying my mascara as well. But the comb for some reason helps them curl more.

Thanks J.. (and SHC).. I will try the vaseline.

I have used NYC eyeliner once but for some reason it irritated my eyes. My eyes teared all day... I like Milani. It is cheap and I have used Wet and Wild every now and then. The nail polish is cheap and stays on as well as most.. except Sally Hansen..that is the best.

I use Bare Minerals... but I got it super cheap from craigslist. Like $12 for two foundations, a "mineral veil", and the brushes.

I also like the CG liquids, esp the true blends line.

My skin is also very fair. CG has that little plastic thing that is supposed to tell you your shade, and I am too light for all of them. The lightest one seems to do okay though.

I like mascara but have yet to find one that likes me... they all seem to flake and irritate the crap out of my contacts.

Anyone have eyeshadow recommendations?

SoCalcaniac
07-16-2008, 05:33 PM
Kat- I'm an eyeshadow nut; two brands I highly recommend are Vincent Long and Too Faced- great colors, great color combos in a single pod; every color in the rainbow really, and both brands are very smooth- a little goes a long way, so they last longer and you don't get creasing or flaking on your skin. I am also a fan of Laura Mercier and my all time fave is MAC. Their colors are just gorgeous, and again that smooth application is what I go for- not having to keep adding eyeshadow to the brush so it actually shows up on you skin and looks natural is a biggie for me. Dior is great too- however, $$$$ for just a single color- but they sure do make pretty colors.

Everytime we venture out to Crabtree and hub sees Sephora, he cringes cause he knows I'll be in there all day debating eyeshadow, heehee....

Oh man, I love Dior. I have to shield my eyes and walk quickly by the counter lest I fall victim to their shiny fabulous things. :D You just can't beat Dior for color quality. I was lured over to the counter and I bought the Plastic Shine in deep purple! :O

I know this might be a little left of center, but for gorgeous colors, I love this retro brand called Besame - they recreate make up from the 20's, 30's and 40's, ( they even make the retro compacts and powder puffs ) and the eyeshadows are unreal. The color saturation is so beautiful and rich. You can also order samples from them for a small price.

You know, just when I think I might have an ounce of cool left in me a thread like this comes along. I don't even know what mineral foundation is. Can someone explain it to me? Is it "liquid" at all or is it more of a powder-based application? And what stores sell the brands you're talking about? For years I've used a combination of Clinique, Almay, and Aveda products because although I'm old I still have very oily skin, but I sure feel like I use a lot of makeup and by the end of the day it's just gross. This might be something I'd want to try!

Kat, I don't wear contacts anymore but I do have very sensitive eyes, and the only mascara I've ever really found that works for me is Almay One Coat Nourishing Mascara.

And I'm a big fan of Aquaphor (or generic equivalent) in the little tubes as an all purpose eye makeup remover, rough skin softener, lip gloss, etc. Anything that is multi-purpose and makes it easier for me to be 3-1-1 compliant when I travel is a plus!

LTD- lol, you're cool to me. ;)

Mineral foundation is powder-like; meant to provide coverage like foundation but not "heavy" and allows the skin to breath- better than the liquids that can clog your pores. The experts/sales people will say it has all these things in it to make you look younger, like a movie star, blah, blah, but the brand I use does make me feel like overall, it's better on your skin, and it feels less like "I'm made up!" -- So yep, you are on the right track, it's like powder but doesn't make you look like you caked on some powder, lol.

Is anyone here a Lush fan? They are opening a new store at Crabtree soon. Some of their products are definitely out there and a little weird to use (since they are "green") and I haven't liked all that I've tried, but I do have some favorites. I use their UltraBland as my makeup remover...it's a little "greasy" feeling, but that's great for my dry skin. Also love their bath bombs!

My problem is no matter what type of foundation I use (and I've tried just about everything from $ to $$$$$) nothing helps an oily face. I'm oily year round. I know you are supposed to 'moisturize' but that only leaves me oilier, so most times...I don't. I'm currently using Neutrogena's Skin Clearing foundation. It's okay and I must admit my breakouts aren't as frequent as they used to be (just once a month really ;) ) Adult acne sucks!!!

Lush? OMG- I had heard it was coming, the buzz kinda died and never heard for sure. woohoo- Do you know when serendipity??

I got a gift basket of stuff from Lush for Christmas- nice stuff; I like the Retro line - "Back for Breakfast " shower gel- very citrusy, wakes you up! And their Bamboo soap, nice fragrance and mild on the skin. In my basket there was "Baby Face" cleanser, great for sensitive skin, some lip balms, and the Almond Kisses moisturizer, which I bought more of after it was gone from my gift- haven't tried any of their 'green' stuff some of it looks kinda far out- but I do love their 'buttercreams' for the shower. Very luxe.

Oh lord, I knew you'd chime in and bop me in the head. It's completely a socal thing. I know it. I blame my mother. She's worse.

and oh, to answer the question- Mr Socal did move his toiletry drawer to our guest bathroom; I slowly started taking over his 3 drawers in our double vanity and I took over his side of the lower cabinet a couple years ago. He is baffled by the "potions" as he calls them.

After I posted my little product addict joke, I went to look at my stash- I does appear like I have a mini Ulta in my own bathroom, soaps, lotions and shower gels all lined in the cabinets. I wonder if there is a PJA (product junkies anonymous)??? I need help, lol.

No kidding. Rio and I both have really oily skin, and we both struggle with breakouts as well. The only thing I've found that does the trick is to use sea salt - I put a tablespoon of salt in my palm, wet it and use it as a scrub (scrubbing gently, of course) - I use it on my face, back and chest, and leave it on for about 15 minutes, like a mask. It works really well, like an Ahava sea salt mud mask, only a lot less expensive.

I've got the Mary Kay mineral foundation and I really like it. You can wear it as a "setting powder" over their other foundations, or you can wear it alone. To get complete coverage on my face, it usually takes 2 or 3 layers. But it's so lightweight you don't even feel it.

For those with oily skin who have trouble finding moisturizer that doesn't make them more greasy, my trick is to wet my hands, squeeze a little moisturizer (almost always Clinique Dramatically Different for me; did you know it's the most sold cosmetic in the world?) on my hands, then put on the moisturizer. The wet-hand trick seems to do it for me. (Plus, in the middle of the winter when I feel like a big ol' lizard, my face is always like, "Ahhhhhhhh!" with the double-whammy of moisturizer and water.)

So here's my make-up problem ... Mascara.

I tend to rub at my eyes a fair amount (particularly when I'm tired) and I never know when a Hallmark commercial is going to tear me up so I prefer waterproof. (Plus, I got caught in a big thunderstorm once with non-waterproof and that's just not an image I care to re-live ever again.)

For years, I was a Clinique waterproof girl and I can't remember why I gave it up -- change of formula, price, not even sure. I've been bouncing around from mascara to mascara for probably 3-4 years and was liking Mary Kay, but then I became not-friends with my Mary Kay rep (the same girl from my hair post, actually!) and also I think they changed the formula.

Currently, I'm using Avon Daring Curves and I love the effect (and the price!), but mother of God, it takes a sander and acid to get it off. Seriously, I've tried Avon's stuff, Clinique's Take the Day Off (which was almost always no-fail) and even baby oil and I *still* end up with smudges. And that stuff is in addition to the gentle face soap I use that used to take off the Clinique. I hate having an arsenal of make-up removing substances and I'd really rather use a mascara that comes up with the same gentle face soap that takes the rest of my make-up off.

Hmm, maybe I should give Clinique a try again and figure out why I gave it up. It may have just been the price or that I was out at a time that it wasn't Bonus Time. (Because, right, I need another bottle of Happy that really smells Crappy on me.)

Any suggestions, either for a mascara that fits my needs -- waterproof, yet comes up relatively easy with some face soap -- or a better mascara remover that might work on this Daring Curves?

SouthernHockeyChick
10-09-2008, 09:28 PM
I have similar issues and I loved Mary Kay but when I moved, I lost my rep and haven't found a new one yet. I hate to hear the formula may have changed. I'd tell you what I'm using now but, I hate it so, no point.

Have you tried vaseline to take it off? That's the best mascara remover I know of.

I can hook you up with a Mary Kay lady, Chicks. Of course, once you call her, your life no longer belongs to you, so think about it carefully before you call. lol
Those MK ladies are pushing their wares like dime bags. :D

Kermel, my eyes are really sensitive, and I use Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof. I've used it for 10 or 15 years, and it's very dependable.

I have a MaryKay-bot (I mean rep), too, I guess. She is very scary, in a Stepford wife kind of way. I keep expecting there to be a control panel in the back...

Anyhow, my friend talked me into going to a MK party about a month ago and I did purchase a mascara. I didn't generally wear mascara due to contacts and sensitivity, but this stuff works really well and has even made it through a full day + hockey practice without running down my face.

I use walmart brand (equate) eye makeup remover and it comes off just fine. And is only $3.

I am in the market for a moisturizer for extremely dry skin, if anyone has a suggestion. Would prefer cheap, since, well, I am cheap. :)

Kermie, I use mostly Clinique or Aveda makeups but I've never been able to wear their mascara (burns my eyes). I like Almay mascara and have never had a problem, plus it's kind of nice that you can pick it up at any grocery/drug store. I don't use the waterproof version though.

I tried an Almay mascara and couldn't wear it due to flaking... not sure if it was waterproof, though. I do like their liquid eyeliner.

Just about any mascara (drugstore brand, not makeup counter) I have ever tried besides the MK has either wound up flaking into my eyes or down around my ankles.

Not sure of the waterproof aspect, but I really like Neutrogena mascara. Not for the dramatic types but it doesn't irritate my eyes and even when it comes off it doesn't smudge too much.

As for the mineral makeup - I have oily skin & big pores and could never find anything that I liked better than a liquid. Enter Jane Iredale PurePressed...hands down the best I've tried. And for those of you who know how pale I am - there are two or three shades that are too light for me, so it's really good for the fair-skinned ladies. It's horribly expensive in the store, but you can generally find it on eBay for 20-22 a pop, and it lasts a long time.

I've been using Bare Minerals for nearly 4 years now and love their products. They're a bit pricey (I think I spend ~$20/month on the foundation+mineral veil), but I haven't found anything that works quite as well with my skin as their products. There should be a Bare Escentuals store opening at Crabtree in the near future (if it isn't open already).

As for mascara, I absolutely love Avon's Wash-Off Waterproof mascara. I absolutely need a waterproof mascara, and this is the only one that hasn't mauled my eyelashes. Plus, it washes off fairly easily with soap and water, and it's fairly cheap (I think I got each tube for ~$3 on sale).

LOL on MaryKay- my parents long time neighbor is one of those super saleswoman Mary Kay gals, her life's work is Mary Kay and she's done VERY well. Everytime we go home to socal, my hub says "oh I hope that Mary Kay lady isn't in the garden with your mom, she might whip out more potions for you to try" (he can't believe she 'always' has something in her purse or on her person to 'sample'-heehee)

Anyway, as the resident product junkie with a capital J, I will tout the virtues of the best mascara ever. It's called Dior Iconic Mascara, I have no eyelashes- well, I do, but they're wierd and sparse and need help to fatten them and I just can't do false lashes, so I'm forever looking for something that stays (no flaking) that fattens up from the roots to the tip without CLUMPS, and when I was younger, it seemed Maybelline Greatlash was perfect, over the last 5 or so years, I've alternated a couple different brands, including Loreal and recently in the last couple years, it's been Too Faced Lash Injection, and Bourjois Volume Glamour. Both are really great- but Dior came out with this a couple months ago, and wow. Love it. No smudging, no smearing, big fat lashes and they get separated and not clumped. The only setback- you pay $$. I have never paid tons on mascara. I think it's just insane what the makeup companies can get away with- so when I got the first sample of Dior, it was free, a friend works in NYC in the industry and sends me alot of stuff; so when I went to buy a replacement @ Sephora, I was stunned at the $27.00 pricetag. If Mr. Socal knew exactly what the tube cost? He'd give me the lecture on the starving children in (insert country). and in this economy, seriously, $27 mascara? It's hard to justify, but it's not a weekly purchase, so that's what I'll hang my hat on for now.

Kat- I'm a dry skin gal too- dry and very sensistive skin. I have had the most success with Clinique and Philosphy. Clinique came out with Moisture Surge which is one of those moisturizers that a little goes a long way. I really love the way it just smooths on, and you really see a difference, especially for me in the winter when the cold just tries to take my skin down. It's not luxe expensive like some of my other favorites- I think the jar is $30ish. and it lasts a while even with daily use. I also LOVE Philosphy's When Hope is Not Enough Replenishing cream. This is a little pricier at around $50 bucks, but another little goes a long way type moisturizer. They also have a formula with SPF 20 mixed in which is great. One last brand that is budget friendly is Kiehl's. I used to shop their store back in socal, they don't have one here, but they do sell the products at Nordstrom and I believe Belk now has them too. Kiehl's has that whole back to basics thing as their selling point- and their big bottle of moiturizer is less than $20- it's called Kiehls Ultra Facial. they also have it in a tinted version with SPF, and that's a couple dollars more. But for 18-20bucks, the Ultra Facial is really great. If you do decide to indulge and when I say indulge I mean pay for really pretty packaging- Erno Lazlo is very luxurious on the face - really see the difference in minutes (but around $110-120 per jar) or La Prairie, at $175, it's just insane. I'd never even know about them if I didn't get full sized freebies on occasion!

Okay SoCal, let me define cheap Kat-style.

I would be willing to pay as much as $10-15, but would prefer under $10. $30 for moisturizer... let alone $175!! And, would prefer to not have to go beyond a Target to get it. :D

I like the Revlon Mineral makeup... it gives you good coverage and looks natural on your skin. I think I paid $8.99 for it at CVS.

So far as mascara, I have to be careful with that because like some of you, some of it burns my eyes.. some eyeliners do that to me as well. I use Maybelline with the comb.. it goes on well and doesn't clump. I have long lashes but have to use an eyelash curler.. this helps with some lift to them as well.

Kat I am with you... I can't spend alot on cosmetics. For moisturizer, I use Oil of Olay.

*Ducking* heehee Kat!

Ok, I hear you,I did warn ya, I'm overboard on products--- I did a horrid job of going 'cheap' and after I posted, I realized I completely forgot about some goodies I got at Ulta when they did this open house type thing at their store- Garnier Nutriesse has a line of face products- I got a couple of one use samples of their moiture creams, and their everyday moisturizer and they even have this 'under eye pen' when helps with puffiness, and softens lines under the eyes. and they gave coupons out. So the product nut that I am, I tried them, they are fragrance free, feel good on the skin, and they do a good job. (they gave me 5 sample packets) the whole line starts from 5.99 for the make up remover wipes, to I think $14.99. and it's probably even cheaper at Target or Walmart. Plus the lady at Ulta said they 'always' have coupons in the Sunday fliers.

I can say I bought a full size of the make up remover wipes, and they're really great. They moisturize really well and take the grime off.

So how'd I do this go round???

MUCH better.
I will have to check out both the Revlon mineral makeup and the Garner nutriesse stuff. I do prefer a liquid foundation in winter, though, since I can use all the moisture I can get.

I use Oil of Olay too Mona, and it just doesn't seem to remove the flakiness. And yes, I exfoliate, but with St Ives apricot scrub. Well, to be fair, both the Oil of Olay and St Ives have been replaced with store brand... (did I mention I was cheap?) I doubt very much that store brand makes a difference, though.

Do you know that what this post looks like in Greek?

I LOVE επίσης Philosphy της Όταν δεν αρκεί Hope αναπλήρωση Cream.

And I understood both almost equally! I definitely need to study up on skin care!

So whattya tryin' to say?

Oh E----you, me, Sephora counter, and a few choice products. It's not nearly as complex as the product pushers want us to believe it is, it's just about finding the right stuff that works for you. and for some, it's a simple jar of face moisturizer, or a good toner/cleanser.

Me, I'm just a lost cause, I love nothing more than to sample away in Ulta or Sephora and every new thing on the market gets at least a glance.:lol:;

My true routine is 15 minutes, 3 products to prep the face before the minerals go on, eyeliner, lips, lashes- boom done; and it fits in one medium sized cosmetic bag that I can bring to the gym since I go in the morning and often get cleaned up and head home to start work. Anything else I'd use, would be for going out, or special occasions. Sometimes even hockey games, lol.

But- all that said, I do realize it's a bit kooky. SO- Hi, I'm Socal, and I'm STILL a full on product junkie.:crazy:

Kat

E,:laugh::laugh:. Except, I saw a bunch of Greek with $175 in the middle.

SoCal, my routine takes less than 5 min. Moisturizer, foundation + some green stick thingy for the reddish parts aroud nose, bit of blush*, powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara*, lipstick* (*=sometimes).

And, my routine from stepping in shower until ready to walk out the door is usually under 15 min unless I actually dry/do my hair (which reaches halfway down my back and needs a flat iron) rather than twisting it up, in which case it *might* take 20-25.

So where can I turn in my girl card?

I had to turn in my girl card because I'm just not a big chocolate person. (Unless it is combined with caramel or peanut butter or comes in the form of brownies.)

GAHHHHH! So I think my frustration with getting that mascara off -- because, really, a girl can only put so much battery acid on her face -- has made me verrry lazy about taking off my makeup and I'm having one of the worst break-outs I've had in YEARS. Someone needs to tie my hands behind my back because I. can't. stop. picking.

I'm a fan of the Dove Pro Age line. My skin, face & body, has been awesome since I started using those products...not a dry spot anywhere!

It sounds like we need an LGC Ladies field trip to Sephora and Ulta, with SoCal as our guide. LOL

Have you tried vaseline to take it off? That's the best mascara remover I know of.

I had never used it before, so I wasn't quite sure what to do. Google led me to this WikiHow (http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Eye-Makeup-Instantly), and I've been doing that some and it seems to work MUCH better on this Avon mascara I've been using. As long as I haven't half-assed it before bed, I've woken up with no smudges. Whoo-hoo!

K, I read that wikihow, and it was somewhat disturbing. I think it was the phrase "sticky black mass".

And as to a field trip with SoCal, well, I don't have that much cash!!

I can't say that I've had the "sticky black mess" that person talked about, but I don't really look at my eyes -- I use a warm, wet washcloth to take off the Vaseline and mascara and I don't really open my eyes until I'm done. Plus, I don't think I use the gob that they recommend.

In Today's PARADE magazine, they have several bits of info for women (some about breast cancer screenings), but also an article about Women's skin from a facial plastic surgeon. It was pretty step by step, so maybe I'll take this to the store with me.

 Kermel & Kat-

Ok girlies- I'm not that bad! I am a product junkie, for that I admit, but I like to think I'm selective in what I spend $$$ and I take advantage of alot of freebies from my friend who is in the industry of beauty products and gets a ton of stuff that she insist that I sample and I'm a sucker for it, lol. ;)

I think I'm going to have to go back to Clinique waterproof mascara to try to figure out why I gave it up in the first place. I like the Avon I've been using, but I swear this stuff is like an infection and every attempt at removing it is like too many rounds of antibiotics -- each process works great the first time or two and then it stops working. The Vaseline did well for a bit and now it's not getting it all off. I bought some Equate Creamy Cleanser at Wal-Mart the other day that did a great job the first night and left smudges the second. (With that said, I do like the cleanser. I also like the Equate Everyday Facial Hydrating Cloths. They're awesome for travel and I find one whole cloth is more than I need -- I usually cut them into fourths.)

On the subject of skin care, I recently won an Obagi system (http://conditionandenhance.com/) in a drawing and have been using it regularly the past week or two. (Well, I've been very good at doing the morning routine. I'm a little slack at the full bedtime routine.) I had a day or two of bad peeling, but it seems to have mellowed out, though I'm not sure if it's Step 4 of the morning routine or the Retin-A (not included in the system; purchased separately) of the evening routine. But it's a good thing I won this because no way would I have paid the $500 it normally costs!

Also, as it gets to be drying winter weather, I want to highly recommend Mary Kay's Satin Lips. Of course, approach a Mary Kay dealer at your own risk. =.)
