They have released the dates of when individual tickets go on sale. I thought some people would like to know...

RALEIGH, NC—Bill Nowicki, Director of Ticket Operations for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that individual game tickets for Hurricanes’ home games in October and November will be on sale to the general public on Sunday, Sept. 21, in conjunction with the Caniac Carnival. Tickets will be available at the Time Warner Cable Box Office at the RBC Center, CarolinaHurricanes.com and all Ticketmaster outlets beginning at 10 a.m.

The Hurricanes’ October and November home schedule includes the team’s home opener at the RBC Center on Oct. 10 against Florida, and the Oct. 13 match-up against 2008 Stanley Cup champions, the Detroit Red Wings. Other featured match-ups of the first two months of the season include the Nov. 1 meeting with 2006 Stanley Cup Final opponent Edmonton, divisional games against Atlanta, Tampa Bay and Washington, as well as visits from Western Conference foes Phoenix, Nashville and Anaheim.

Tickets for Carolina’s home games after November will go on sale the first business day of the previous month: Nov. 1 for December games, Dec. 1 for January games, Jan. 2 for February games. On Feb. 2, tickets for the remaining games in March and April will be available. Individual-game tickets for Hurricanes games can be purchased at the Time Warner Cable Box Office at the RBC Center, all TicketMaster locations, by calling 919-834-4000 or via www.CarolinaHurricanes.com (http://www.carolinahurricanes.com/).

Nowicki also announced that individual-game tickets for the Hurricanes’ three preseason games at the RBC Center will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Sept. 8

Also, if you go into account manager and view your invoice you can see what seats you got. I realize this is only relevant for us 12 game plan holders, but I was still psyched to see I have seats I really like! :nanner:

we got our seats listed also. I asked for the same ones we had last year and we got them. Two years in a row with a 10/12 game mini plan with the same seats. LLS and on the aisle, we're pleased.

I put some long winded thing on my form about wanting to be in 314 or 334 (whatever section the other side is) as low down as possible, closest to an aisle, with no glass obstructions and left it for the hockey gods to decide. They left me in 314. We'll pick up a pair of headphones for the baby and see how it goes.

Hopefully my seats will show up soon...Does anyone know what preseason game everybody is getting?? And if so, can we trade it in for a regular season game?? Also, does anyone know when they announce the "exchange games"?

I was able to trade in a preseason game for a reg game last season. Presumably that still works that way.

I wonder what the magic date is that they'll finally get the Tenth Anniversary logo off. I get that they probably want to unveil the new slogan/graphics/3rd sweater when the season gets closer, but it would be nice to see something beside the X logo in the meantime.

edit: whenever I feel like ch.com has gotten stale, I tour the SE div team sites. Not the same for them. ATL has had 12 Blueland blog entries in August, has schedule wallpaper available. FLA has some rah-rah stuff about an opening night countdown that begins Sept 10 with a month of stuff, plus video from the informal summer on ice workouts. Tampa has Q&As with several new players, Wash has a time line of all the dates between now and when the season opens. Tampa has daily reports from their prospect camps, etc.

If you buy tickets outside of your pack and can't use them, can you turn those in for another game as well? We don't have opening night tickets in our pack but I would like to go if there is still no baby - however, since it is 3 days after my due date, there is a good chance we might miss it. Cole came 4 days after his due date so hoping for the same with this one

I don't think so, but I have no idea how they check any of that at the box office. Oh - I guess the tickets look different if bought as part of a plan.

I've heard the free preseason game is the Sept 24th one vs Washington. As far as I know you can't exchange the free preseason game for a regular season game. If you are a full season ticket holder, then you can trade the 2 non-free preseason games in for a regular season game.

FYI - The official answer is no:
To answer your question, however, unfortunately only original game plan tickets are exchangeable. It is not possible to exchange tickets for individual game purchases. If you were to purchase those tickets, though, hopefully you'd be able to find someone interested in buying them if you cannot make it. It should turn out to be a big game.

Luckily I am all set and have my plans for opening night thanks to a sweetheart here :D

I finally read my email for STHs.

You'll have a deadline of 9/4 to use your priority for Opening Night and Detriot, but you don't get info on the voucher usage until the 9/2 promised email.

The 'Canes will take on the reigning Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings in the Wings first return to the RBC Center since January 2005. While it already promises to be a thrilling match-up, the 'Canes will also be debuting their new alternate/3rd jersey on the ice!

Either or both of these games can be ordered using the Opening Night /Detroit Game Ticket Request Form linked here: Opening Night/Detroit Game Ticket Request Form

Season Ticket Holders must return these order forms to the Hurricanes offices by no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2008 to ensure their account priority is used in assigning their tickets for these games. Ticket availability is limited, so don't miss this chance to beat the rush!

Please note that ALL 2008-09 regular season games will be open for Season Ticket Holders to purchase beginning Monday, September 8 prior to the September 21 public on-sale date. Look for an email to arrive on Tuesday, September 2 with more details, as well as information regarding voucher redemption.

Still waiting on the 9/2 email that supposed to tell us how to use our vouchers. I'd really like to use mine for Opening Night, but since the Opening Night order form doesn't seem to have any way to designate that, I'm waiting for the email.

If it's only do-able at the box office (or after we receive our ticket shipments), I'll have to decide if we're going to Opening Night at all, or if I'm going to pony up the $$$ to buy them with the advance order form.

We can't make the Detroit/Black Sweater game, so I'm already getting used to the idea of missing the big games. But it'll be strange not to be at opening night for the first time since 2001.

Just got my email.....here ya go. Haven't digested this yet, so not sure if it actually answers any of the questions about Opening Night.

ETA: After launching the Voucher program link, the way I read it, there is no way to redeem the vouchers until you get them because you have to exchange the paper (no CAM). Vouchers won't be received until the ticket packages are sent out which is week of 9/17, leaving you maybe a day or two to redeem them before they go on sale to the public on 9/21 (with whatever pickins are left after the STH's order extras).

Dear LTD family,

As the 2008-2009 Season approaches, we are excited to extend to you one of the many benefits of being a Season Ticket Holder, the opportunity to purchase individual game tickets before they go on sale to the general public. Individual game tickets for October & November will be made available for public sale beginning Sunday, September 21, but beginning this Monday, September 8, you will have the ability to purchase the additional tickets you may need for any 2008-2009 home game. This is your chance to beat the public rush to get the extra tickets you'll need to bring friends, family, coworkers, customers, prospects, etc. to big games and special occasions like New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day.

As a Season Ticket Holder, there are three methods available to purchase individual game tickets:

Caniac Account Manager (Online Access)
The first option, through Caniac Account Manager (http://smr.mm.ticketmaster.com/track?type=click&enid=bWFpbGluZ2lkPTIzMTg1Mzg3Jm1lc3NhZ2VpZD0yMzE2N TAzNyZkYXRhYmFzZWlkPURBVEFCQVNFSUQmc2VyaWFsPTEyMTQ yMDAxNDEmZW1haWxpZD1rZWxsbmVyczM5MzZAeWFob28uY29tJ nVzZXJpZD03MzU1OTU5OTcmZXh0cmE9JiYmaHR0cDovL2h1cnJ pY2FuZXMubmhsLmNvbS90ZWFtL2FwcD9zZXJ2aWNlPXBhZ2Umc GFnZT1OSExQYWdlJmJjaWQ9cmFkNkM4RkI=), offers the ability to immediately select seats and print tickets from your desk. This secure and convenient option (24 hour availability) of purchasing individual game tickets is supported by TicketMaster, and as such, does include a $3 per ticket convenience fee. This option can be used for any game up to 4 hours before its start time. If you need information to access your account via Caniac Account Manager, please contact our offices at 1-866-NHL-CANES (1-866-645-2263).

The RBC Center's Time Warner Cable Box Office
The second option for purchasing individual game tickets is through the RBC Center's Time Warner Cable Box Office. The TWC Box Office is currently operating under "summer hours": Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Closed Saturdays & Sundays. Beginning Monday, September 22, the box office will resume normal hours: Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (excluding Saturdays which coincide with NCSU football games, etc.). Through this option, you can avoid convenience charges, and pick up your tickets immediately by presenting your Season Ticket Holder ID card to our box office staff.

Fax Order Form
The final option to purchase tickets is to download our Individual Game Ticket Order Form (http://smr.mm.ticketmaster.com/track?type=click&enid=bWFpbGluZ2lkPTIzMTg1Mzg3Jm1lc3NhZ2VpZD0yMzE2N TAzNyZkYXRhYmFzZWlkPURBVEFCQVNFSUQmc2VyaWFsPTEyMTQ yMDAxNDEmZW1haWxpZD1rZWxsbmVyczM5MzZAeWFob28uY29tJ nVzZXJpZD03MzU1OTU5OTcmZXh0cmE9JiYmaHR0cDovL2h1cnJ pY2FuZXMubmhsLmNvbS9leHQvdGlja2V0cy8wODA5X0FkZGl0a W9uYWxHYW1lT3JkZXJGb3JtXzIucGRm). Simply print it off, fill out your request, and fax it back to 919-861-7124. Outside of our special Opening Night/Detroit Game offer, in which our priority based ticket system is utilized to process orders, fax orders will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note the rules and restrictions on the order form, as well as the $1 handling charge per order. All fax orders will receive an email confirmation within 2 business days. To avoid duplicate charges, please do not fax your order form more than once. If you do not receive confirmation within 2 business days, please email (tickets@carolinahurricanes.com) us to confirm your order.

OPENING NIGHT/DETROIT GAME PRE-SALE REMINDER!!
Reminder: In order to ensure that any additional tickets you request for Opening Night (October 10) and/or the Detroit Game (October 13) are assigned based on your account priority, request forms must be returned to our offices by no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4. You may access the form by means of this Opening Night Request Form Link (http://smr.mm.ticketmaster.com/track?type=click&enid=bWFpbGluZ2lkPTIzMTg1Mzg3Jm1lc3NhZ2VpZD0yMzE2N TAzNyZkYXRhYmFzZWlkPURBVEFCQVNFSUQmc2VyaWFsPTEyMTQ yMDAxNDEmZW1haWxpZD1rZWxsbmVyczM5MzZAeWFob28uY29tJ nVzZXJpZD03MzU1OTU5OTcmZXh0cmE9JiYmaHR0cDovL2h1cnJ pY2FuZXMubmhsLmNvbS9leHQvdGlja2V0cy8wOC0wOV9PcGVua W5nX05pZ2h0X2FuZF9EZXRyb2l0X1NUSF8yJTIwUHJlLVNhbGU lMjBPcmRlciUyMEZvcm0ucGRm).

Thanks for posting the details LTD!

IIRC last year's opener was barely a sellout, so I suppose it's safe to assume I could get some seats even if I waited.

But this point makes me believe that you might not get what you want anyway.

Prior to redemption, please list your regular season home game selections in order of preference on the reverse side of each game voucher. If your original date choice is not available and you do not list alternate choices, we will fill your order with the next game date available. Any vouchers received by mail within one week of the first selected game date will be left at will call under the primary account holder’s name. All other requests for game tickets will be returned to the address on file via regular mail.

You'd have to leave the vouchers at the box office and hope for the best.

edit: well maybe you can find out at the box office. In a different section it says

Redemption in person at the RBCCenter Time Warner Cable Box Office:
Open Monday through Friday 10:00am – 6:00pm
Please call (919) 861-2323 for more information regarding box office hours.
Redemption on game day ceases 4 hours prior to face off.
Game vouchers must be redeemed at least 48 hours in advance of the game for which it is being redeemed.

I don't get the 4/48 48 hours thing though. Maybe you can redeem any vouchers up until 4 hours before game time unless it's for that game, then it's 48.

edit again:

more fine print.....everyone check their vouchers!

Please note the expiration date on each pass, as some passes are not valid for home games played after January 1, 2009.

If your original date choice is not available and you do not list alternate choices, we will fill your order with the next game date available

what?!? if I list a Saturday game and get a Monday game instead, I am going to be pissed! I can't do games on certain nights. They are going to make this a huge PITA I can tell!

I am also mad about the expiration date - nothing was said about that! since I am due to have a baby in October, I was definitely planning on redeeming my vouchers for later in the season. *argh*

I'm not sure if it's still the case, but at my S-A-S session they said that only one of the vouchers would expire at the end of the year. PJ's explanation was it was to try and prevent the mad rush at the end of the season with not enough seats to be had.

Who knows what is actually the case. Guess we'll find out on or about Sept. 17th.

nccanes

I can understand that issue, they don't want people to be unable to use them, but if you have multiple vouchers and want to use them as a group, I guess you have to do so before Jan 1.

I'm bummed about the fact that Opening Night is technically available, but I'd have to take my chance that the 9/17 ship date would get me my tickets before the 9/21 GA date and having any decent seats left. I was surprised that they were including Opening Night...so the way it works and the timing makes that more understandable.

I'm sure the box office is gonna hate these things...

I guess this can go here. Yesterday I was driving home and had the radio on Sports Radio (I *think* it was 850, but can't be 100% it wasn't 99.9, but I think it was 850). I didn't realize it until the commercial was halfway over but it was a new ad for the Canes games.

It reminded me a bit of those REI commercials that used to ask questions about "Do you find yourself...." and ended with some hiking/kayaking/biking stuff.

ANYWAY, the part that caught my attention was something about "find yourself yelling 'Ref You Suck'....". I started laughing and kind of missed the rest of it. It sounded cute...and different at least. I'm sure I'll be sick of it at some point, but I thought it was humorous.

Paul Branecky added some more info about the Carnival:

[quote]Hello Caniacs, I hope all is well!

Hockey is BACK and the ninth annual Caniac Carnival is only days away. As with each year, we strive to make the event bigger and better for YOU, our fans!

Check out some of the new details for ‘08:

More rides!!! - Each year, the Carnival has grown in size and attendees. Therefore, we have increased the number of inflatable rides and included some new attractions. This offers more family friendly rides and shortens the lines. In addition, we have expanded the sports zone. The area will once again include street hockey and synthetic ice, but will also include new and improved sports-related inflatables.

The Red Bull TNT free style motocross show - If you missed them in March, this show offers countless jaw dropping moments that will leave you thinking- “I can’t believe what I just saw,” and “Did they just do what I thought they did?” It is a must-see as the riders do flips high in the sky and amazing twists and turns that leave fans shocked and amazed. They will have shows at 11:00 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The RBC Bank Autograph Session - A cast of high-profile Canes will be participating. We will be giving away 1,500 wristbands starting at 10 a.m. This season, there is an added twist with the Autograph Express Line. The first 200 fans purchasing a new third jersey will receive access to this line. It adds a bonus for those buying the jersey, but fans just interested in the autographs will still have access to your favorite ‘Canes. Check out the Caniac Carnival FAQ for more information.

The Red-White game - The Red-White game offers Canes’ fans a glimpse of the future, interviews with current players and a chance to be a part of a priceless experience. John Forslund and Tripp Tracy will be joining us for the event and interviewing players and coaches throughout the game. In addition, we will be giving away 15 passes for an unforgettable post-game experience. Fifteen fans will be RANDOMLY selected throughout the game to come down to the ice after its conclusion. The winners will get to meet the players and have a photo taken on ice with the entire winning team! Throughout the game we will also be picking random winners for Hurricanes autographs of past and present Hurricanes players.

FREE!!! - The Carnival is free. Parking is free. Tickets to the Red-White game are free. The autograph session is free. I think you catch my drift. There is something for every Caniac. This is also a great time to bring out friends or family that have never experienced the excitement of Hurricanes Hockey. Check out the FAQ for details on the tickets and autograph session.

We look forward to seeing everyone on the 21st! The Carnival out front takes place from 10:00 am to 2:30 p.m. followed by the Red-White game at 3:00 p.m. Hurricanes Hockey is BACK!

Kudos for the bonus type things for the fans- however, I am scratching my head - on the FAQ on the website, the stuff about the tickets- they're letting STHers in at 2pm, the walk ups at 2:30, and it says "open seating" "nobody will be assigned seats" but if you look at your tickets on CAM, (Since I don't have our tickets, I can't say what the hard copy says) it has your normal seats on the tickets. Which one is it? Oh wait, it's the Canes, it's meant to be confusing.

Thanks for confirming G-Vegas; I am forwarding some of our extras to people we know who we will not see until we get to the RBCC on Sunday, so they'll print out what you did.

So this is what the FAQ says:

When will the <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 /><ST1:PLACE><ST1:PLACENAME>RBC</ST1:PLACENAME><ST1:PLACETYPE>Center</ST1:PLACETYPE></ST1:PLACE> open for the Red/White game?
Ticket plan holders will be able to enter the <ST1:PLACE><ST1:PLACENAME>RBC</ST1:PLACENAME> <ST1:PLACETYPE>Center</ST1:PLACETYPE></ST1:PLACE> starting at <ST1:TIME hour="14" minute="0">2:00 p.m.</ST1:TIME><?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O /><O:P></O:P>
Non-plan holders, will be able to enter the <ST1:PLACE><ST1:PLACENAME>RBC</ST1:PLACENAME> <ST1:PLACETYPE>Center</ST1:PLACETYPE></ST1:PLACE> starting at <ST1:TIME hour="14" minute="30">2:30 p.m.</ST1:TIME><O:P></O:P>
What does General Admission mean?
General Admission will allow fans to sit in any open seats, as we will not have assigned seats for the Red/White game.

I can't imagine the place being completely packed since it's a scrimmage, however, if you're sending tickets to your STHers, why wouldn't they be of the seats you already have? and the walk ups just get whatever isn't already taken? (I'm talking to myself, you don't have to answer, lol.)

nccanes
09-18-2008, 08:29 PM
The whole event is General Admission, I think the tickets just get you in the door. I think the fact that it says the seat location is irrelevant.

I would fwd my seats to myself to see what the actual ticket looks like but I'm not sure how they'll be used and don't want to get confused about what is valid.

But I bet they don't even scan the tickets at the door and just collect them.

The other reason for GA is that the mini-plan seats aren't unique to the holders so they can't be assigned. And it would be a nightmare to keep GA walkups out of assigned seats, etc.

CajunCaniac
09-19-2008, 05:51 AM
I sure hope they tell people at the door, or make some kind of announcement to the STH as we enter the gates stating that our tickets are general admission. Otherwise, I can see a LOT of folks just going to their seats, excited to sit in them for the first time maybe, only to find someone else sitting there.

SoCalcaniac
09-19-2008, 06:35 AM
Yeah, that was my thought exactly Cajun.

I don't see it being a huge deal (GA) but I'm thinking about people with designs on their 'new' or 'changed' ST's and they're out and about at the Carnival or get there in time for the scrimmage only to find someone there.

I'm glad they are general admission. We sit LLN, so it'd be nice to sit center ice for once :D

And question: says STH get to enter at 2pm. I get they can tell the difference from a 26/full season hold as their tickets will be printed with pictures and such. But how will they know a 12 game holder over someone who just picked up their tickets that morning. Won't both of those be printed on the same ticketmaster thingy?

Do we know what the full/26 ticket for this event will look like? I'm guessing they'll just have the GA.

I know if we go, we'll get there late, like late for the scrimmage, not just late for the STH arrival time. So someone with GA seats would presumably think my seats were available anyway.

I don't see how you could have a partially GA and partially designated seats with out it being a big cluster when the seat holders arrive and then people would constantly be shifting around, etc.

I realize the Carnival will draw more people, but previous Red/White games were easily served by just 1 LL side of the arena, so hopefully it'll be fine for all. :)

I just received an e-mail from the NHL telling me I could buy my Canes tickets today. It gave me a promo code to enter. Just for fun, I looked to see what was available for opening night and I could get Center Ice, row C, four tickets together--no problem. Now, if you can't buy tickets until the Caniac Carnival, then why is ticketmaster releasing tickets a day early. This is the kind of thing I find frustrating to no end.

Vandy- completely amazing- and as I just read this to my hub, he reminded me, that he got email "reminders" from WSH, CLB, PIT, TB, ATL, letting him know that he could purchase tix for the season "10am Saturday 9/20" . He thinks he got others but these are the most recent tickets we have purchased for roadies, so I'm guessing that is why he got them. Anyway, he remembers speaking to our Pens ticket rep who had told him that the "on sale date' league wide is today. He didn't reallyt think anything of it, since own ST's, it wasn't anything we needed to worry about. But I'm with Guy- I'd be real ticked knowing people could by tix today and I show up at the Carnival to buy tommorow.

But once again, our org looks dumb, but then, they probably said well the Wolfpack game is going to be on Saturday so we'll just wait til Sunday and nobody will even know. :roll

Any of you see the rosters for the Red vs. White game?

http://hurricanes.nhl.com/ext/redwhite.doc

I guess I wasn't aware that basically no one from the regulars will be participating, other than Bayda, Eaves, Seids, and Babchuk. Not even Coach Lav (although Coach Wesley has a nice ring). I wonder if they will get Ron the Ref to officiate.

I guess it will be neat to see Sutter and O'Neill.

I figured that since the Carnival wasn't "attached" to a preseason game, they would at least give the fans a good show with more regulars than that.

SoCalcaniac
09-20-2008, 09:10 PM
I didn't seriously think we'd get to see all of the 'stars' in just a scrimmage- this is what camp is for, for many of these young guys especially to get evaluated and for coaches to get a look. And just cause Laviolette isn't "coaching" doesn't mean he won't be around watching closely.

There are PLENTY of guys to see in this one. I'm kinda glad that we will get to see the young kids- especially Borer, Bowman, Babin, Nicholas Blanchard, Harrison Reed, Stefan Chaput and that kid from the rookie camp Sam Morneau. and oh, Michal Jordan is playing.

and the good news is- the first "real" preseason game is right around the corner on Wednesday. We'll get to see a good bulk of the guys in that first game- and for all the people who are going to line up for autographs at the carnival, most of the non-playing guys will likely be doing lots of signing.

I'm not surprised about Lavi not being a coach. He usually sits in the stands with his clipboard writing notes. Wonder where he'll be sitting tomorrow.

We've never been to the Carnival because in years past it has been so freakin' hot and I don't do hot very well. The weather looks pretty mild for tomorrow, so I'm really itching to go. Can someone share their experience regarding the line for tix to the R/W scrimmage? I don't need an autograph wristband, but I do want to get in to see the game. Am I gonna have to stand in line for hours if I get there around 10am...or even a smidge later?

I'm guessing they don't open the entire RBCC for the scrimmage, so am I in jeopardy of missing out on the tix if I don't suck it up and stand in line before 10am? /whine

I was a little surprised as well. I feel pretty sure that the scrimmages in the past have included more of the "regulars." I'll be honest, I have something else I need to do today and once I saw that roster it made it easier to decide that we might just skip the game.

I was thinking that the Red/White scrimmage wasn't previously on Day 2 of camp. SHC, I had the same thought as you. We've got something at 1pm and we'd be scrambling to get there on time from the Wake Forest area and I just decided to bag it. Seeing #92 was tempting, but I've got other stuff I need to get done. The Red/White scrimmage was mid-camp IIRC, and BF you're right, the Caps game was the day of the carnival.

I agree it's odd to have the scrimmage this early, but I guess this is a way of making something "free" to the fans and it not be a real NHL game.

We don't have kiddies and that's really what the Carnival is for, and I've vowed to stay away from that autograph line since it's just insane; so we're not heading over until around 1:30- even with the lack of "NHLers" I'm excited to go see Seids, Babs, Sutter etc. scrimmaging.

We were just talking and imagining how wild the Eye probably is about now- I really wanted to get my 3rd jersey, but I'm thinking I'll wait til tommorow when I head over to actually watch all 3 practice sessions.

See ya'll at the scrimmage!

No meaner than it is for me to say that sadly it was no better if you were there in person. I remember thinking "La-Co who?"

We stayed through half the game. I had not been to a scrimmage before but there was a very good crowd. Looked to be enough people (spread out across lower and club levels) to just about fill the lower bowl.

Tripp interviewed O during the game to wild applause from the crowd.

Outdoor carnival was much better than years past. They beefed up the kiddy attractions so the lines were much less shorter. Of course having temperatures 10 to 15 degrees lower than last year helped too. We didn't get there until about 12:30 - 1:00 so I have no idea how the autograph sessions went although I saw quite a few folks with new autographed jerseys.

I have to admit it was a great day for me. I saw my son's soccer game with an absolute beauty of a goal for him, came home to find the scrimmage streaming, and then watched the USA win the Ryder Cup. :usa: A good day!

Just a quick blurb on Babchuk from Branecky's post-game blog:

http://hurricanes.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=382831

Team white defenseman Anton Babchuk (http://hurricanes.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=PlayerDetail&playerId=8470265) left the game after the first period, but Laviolette said after the game that the team was being cautious about his knee.

"He has a chance to be on the ice tomorrow," said Laviolette.

Game photos are up as well via above link.

We just got home a few minutes ago (pit stop for post scrimmage dinner at Char Grill- it's been a couple years since I've had their grilled chicken sandwich, lol)

Anyway, I thought it was cool to get a text from nccanes about the streaming- and it was a great crowd considering the lack of our 'stars' or starter types.

The in-game interview with Tripp (at his divine Trippness best- I had forgotten how long it has been since April, until he started talkin', lol) and Conboy were really good. the crowd was so fired up and Conboy really has a become a fave in a short time- (complete with his theme song playing) it's neat to see. Patrick Eaves and Brandon Sutter also got interviewed and they did great and got a nice reception from the crowd too.

Kids who stood out- Sam Morneau, the Petruzalek kid, and Nicholas Blanchard looked very impressive as did Chris Terry & Stefan Chaput. I need Cory to come post his thoughts on Helminen since he commented on him earlier, and I spent a good bit of time watching him, he's an interesting revelation.

Seidenberg looked real good out there- and I liked #10's intermission thoughts on the "kids coming to camp for the first or second time" - he said something that made me look around some more- He said "some guys look and act like they belong here, other guys take a little more time to get settled in, and feeling comfortable" I also liked how he pumped up the crowd with his comments on the turn out and supporting the young kids by sticking around.

Oh, on Brian Hoyle? he is definitely as bad as ever, especially with the new sound system.

We got to the festivities around 1pm- lots of people, and the weather was perfect. Saw lots of 3rd jerseys (2 Corvos, 3 Ruutus, 3 Samsonov's and 5 Brind 'Amour', 3 LaRose and hot off the presses, 1 Pitkanen. Not one Staal, that I can recall, which is really funny. And a whole bunch of people who couldn't decide what player- so they were blank, lol.

Great day. Great to see the kids; Babs, I thought, injured his shoulder when he put a hit on someone, but it sounds like it was a knee? I never saw him come back.

Well, I hate to throw more salt into the wound, but tickets were available up until game time. There were a couple of tents set up outside the arena where anyone could walk up and get them. My son was actually sitting in the tent handing out tickets with the ticket folks while I ran back to the car to fetch something, and that was probably as late as 2:45 or so and there were still plenty of tickets available.

I am SURE there were Staal jerseys around, I just had a chuckle over how I saw seemingly everyone other than #12 on the new jersey. Heehee.

So the beat goes on as far as incompetence goes- so they had all the cattle (er, fans) herded in all the entrances, yet nobody figured out that they should have had a specific entrance for all the 2pm/STHers so that they didn't have to kick people out of the line to move the STHers in the front- which happened at our entrance and caused mild chaos to say the least. I agree, if we get a bazillion emails from the Canes for the stupidest things, why couldn't they have emailed all the ticket holders to let them know an alternative to tickets in hand is printing out tix from CAM.

Oh, wait- that would make too much sense.

Funny bit for you E- We got to the RBCC and managed to make our way to where the band was playing outside- we spotted some friends over by one of the rides and on our way there, we got in this cluster and nearly smacked right into KYLE Prairie who was getting a raging earful from two different women. Mr. Socal stops and pulls me in the other direction, and says "you'd probably hit that man right now, so we're going this way". ;)

EDIT: E- the people (non players) were 'winners' of an in-game contest where they picked people to go to the ice to get their pic taken with the winning scrimmage team.

Mr. LTD was out of town with the "good" camera so all I had today was a point-and-shoot so I wasn't able to capture any action on the ice. I did want to post this though just because I thought it was cute/funny, here's a new ad in the concourse.

 Mr. Socal had told me he saw that when he had stopped over at the RBCC to see our ticket rep one day; he failed to describe it properly so when I saw it myself today, I was howling. Our ticket rep told hub, that he actually got Dancin' Granny's autograph, and showed it to him in his office. LMAO.

That pic is too cute. Totally fun!

Just a heads up that Petruzalek used to be on the Checkers so some people may have seen him before without realizing it. I remember seeing him a while back and he played pretty well.

Fun that someone has a sense of humor, isn't it. Who knows whose idea that ad was, but I have to admit a few things have impressed me so far (ticket snafu notwithstanding), but I love the info on the web and obviously the streaming, but I also think the idea of having the Carnival on the same days as the R/W scrimmage was a great idea, and even the idea to give STHs car flags and giving away prizes...encourages fan participation, etc.

Yeah, Petruzalek was a Rangers pick- and did well for the Checkers and in Hartford for the Wolfpack. I think he's a hidden gem in that Cullen retrun/trade.

E, you're right- for all my yapping about the ticket mess; I am impressed that they're making an effort to encourage fan participation. I have one thing that came as a 'surprise' though- Do ya'll know about these Canes "Family Nights"? I finally got my hands on a real pocket sched, to replace my homemade one, and it outlines this "Family Night" thing. Complete with $1 hot dogs, and seemingly good prices for tix for a family of 4.

The nephew and I had a good day, although, I feel broke now...lol. It was a teaser though, so now I'm really excited for Wednesday. We got there around 12:45pm, walked around a bit and went into the eye for yes more souveniers. It was a gorgeous day out, glad the weather was perfect for the event.

Y'all are making me laugh. Remember, it's an Eye Care Associates ad, not a Hurricanes ad, so it's THEIR marketing department you need to thank!

I feel like I contribute in some small way because my poor eyesight certainly helps them meet their ad budget.

And by the way, their media department is worth a launch:

 Yep, LTD, I'm an ECA patient so I feel like I own a stake too.

But what I'm lauging at is the Hoyle thing- Everytime I get real irked by some bungled annoucement he makes, I start b!tching and hollering to hub about "why the friggin Canes can't get a real announcer and not the freebie they are stuck with cause he works for our big sponsor". You should see Mr. Socal mimic me word for word when he sees I'm about to boil over.;)

I did realize that it was clever marketing, even if it wasn't the Canes themselves.

agree. it badly needs tuning. way too much bass.. Even with the light crowd I had a hard time understanding parts of the announcements sitting in both the first and second levels for parts of the game.

Anyone else notice how the banners are all rearranged on the inner circle now because of the new speakers. All of ours are in a line at one end and if you're high up are blocked by speakers when looking at them. Still hoping thats temporary placement.

I'm HIGHLY disappointed by that news.

Though I guess not surprised that they would have spent a bunch of money on something that yields no improvement...

We sat down by the glass in LLS, and the clarity was much better down there than it has been in the past. It used to sound like a drive thru window from the 1970's down there. But I would agree that the tuning needs to be adjusted pretty badly.

Wow. Kid Caveman and I had a great freaking time. All those inflatable slides, bull riding, multiple climbing walls, Red Bull's ramps, he was literally a kid in an inflatable bouncy heaven. During warm-ups for the scrimmage, down on my end the red team was warming up, and it was *obvious* that LaCouture had some real zip and jump. He and Helminen really stood out. I had completely forgotten how gigantically massive Babchuck really is.

On the bad: Eaves didn't stand out at all from the pack IMHO. Sutter didn't look ready, either. I was glad to see Jeff O get on the scoreboard again, but he was absolutely schooled on multiple occasions while attempting to forecheck. I wasn't impressed with Melichar at all.

Kudos to the Hurricanes for putting on a great Carnival, four thumbs up.

ETA: we rolled in a little before 10 and saw ridiculously long lines for tickets, so we just went and played on the bouncies for a while, and later we just walked up to a tent and picked up our tickets with no "waiting in line".

2nd day into "official camp," guys playing with guys with whom they have had no chance to establish on the ice chemistry with, I didn't expect to see anyone stand out just head and shoulders above everyone else.

Looked pretty chaotic out there to me. I expect as guys get sent home and they are playing with other guys that are going to be on the club that guys like Eaves, etc. will start to look really good.

Personally I didn't read too much into O's game yesterday. Since he does not have a contract he will be around almost to the end IMO and I think as the numbers get smaller he will be able to really show whether he can make the team. I am pulling for him to make the team and have a great yr. Time will tell.

you want even more clever?? They have the number as 863-20/20.

below it, they have another number in smaller font size, 863-20/10

i thought that was a clever idea.
