Shockey called Bill Parcells a homo in an article for New Yorker magazine among other crap in his diatribe. For someone who is a marginal tight end at best and is only famous for one catch where he ran over two people where does he get off spewing the crap he does. Now I am no Bill Parcells fan but he didn't deserve the crap that Shockey spewed about him. But what do you expect from a U of Miami player. Look at his predecessors, Ray Lewis and Warren Sapp.

I haven't liked Shockey from the beginning. Doesn't surprise me.

I saw that earlier.. what do you expect from a NY Giant though?

It's a headline the New York Giants didn't want to read: "Shockey calls Parcells 'homo' in magazine interview."

But there it was. Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey, talking to New York Magazine for an upcoming issue, attacked new Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells. Apparently Shockey took umbrage with some of Parcells' television commentary.

Here were some of his quips:

"Let's see how much Parcells wins this year. I'll make him pay when we play him. The homo."

And . . .

"He says he quits, then he wants to come back and coach. Do something. Stay in commentary or stay in football or get the hell out of everybody's life."

And . . .

"All my buddies are like, 'Why is he dogging you? After you catch a pass on him this year, you oughta throw it right at his fat head.'"

To comment on what i read in ESPN Mag today, if he was playing in Arizona instead of New York, he would not be getting a 1/4 of the attention he does.
New York is his stage, and that is a pretty big stage to speak from.

Did something happen between these two, or is this guy just an as*hole??

This I don't disagree with, but then I can't stand Bill Parcells.

The "homo" quote sounds like a 12 year old on the school ground throwing out middle school insults. Hope he can back up his arrogance on the field this year.

New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey is still trying to calm everybody down after his put-downs of Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells came out in New York Magazine.

And now comes word that he ruffled more feathers with a Maxim interview. It seems he told his interviewer that several married Giants teammates maintain girlfriends at various road stops.

We doubt that many wives read Maxim, but words of Shockey's assertion will certainly get around. Shockey might want to keep his head on a swivel as he catches crossing-pattern passes in practice.

"It's one of those things where that's the stereotype of athletes and a statement like that doesn't help the stereotype," Giants defensive end Michael Strahan told the New York Post. "All guys aren't like that. I don't do that. I don't have the energy, first of all. Secondly, I don't have the nerve.

"Jeremy's young, that's how he feels. You can't take one person's lifestyle and apply it to everyone else."

knew the first time I saw him what kinda player he was going to be. I want to see his clock cleaned on a cross-route so badly I can taste it.

seems like with talking about his teammates like that... I might get my wish before the season even starts.

what's the saying.... a fool and his head are soon separated? ;)

Keyshawn: Shockey should be careful
By Alex Marvez
Posted August 17 2003

Even Tampa Bay wide receiver/trash-talking wizard Keyshawn Johnson believes New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey went too far with his recent slur about Dallas coach Bill Parcells.

A New York magazine article quotes Shockey as calling Parcells a "homo" for negative comments made about him while Parcells served as a television analyst in 2002. Shockey has issued a public apology, but Johnson believes the issue could come back to haunt the former University of Miami standout.

"He attacked the wrong guy," Johnson said. "He went at it with the top guy in the New York sports world. As soon as [Shockey] drops the first ball, [the media] will be all over him. You don't say that about Parcells, especially not in New York."

Parcells, who led the Giants to two Super Bowl titles and took the New York Jets to the 1998 AFC Championship Game, smiled but declined to comment when asked for his thoughts on Shockey's insult. Johnson believes Parcells could try getting his revenge Sept. 15 when the Giants host Dallas on Monday Night Football.

"He's got to worry about Bill bringing a guy in for the minimum [salary] just for that game and his only job is to take Shockey's knees out," said Johnson, who played for Parcells with the Jets from 1996 to 1999. "I'm sad he said it. He should have never said it. You've got to watch your words."

Yes, such criticism is coming from the author of an autobiography entitled Just Give Me the Damn Ball. But while he has publicly ripped such ex-teammates as wide receiver Wayne Chrebet and quarterback Neil O'Donnell, Johnson says he knows when to draw the line.

"I would never call anybody a homosexual," Johnson said. "I don't care about what anyone does in his private life."

Giants Tight End Shockey Out for Up to Two Months
Tue Nov 11, 2:08 AM ET

TORONTO (Reuters) - Pro Bowl tight end Jeremy Shockey will be sidelined for six to eight weeks with a partially torn ligament in his left knee, the New York Giants (news) said on Monday.

"This will involve mostly rehab and no surgery," coach Jim Fassel told the Giants' Web site.

Shockey, who limped off the field late in the Giants' 27-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons (news) on Sunday, was initially diagnosed as having a sprained knee but an MRI scan on Monday revealed the ligament damage.

Shockey is the team's leading receiver with 48 catches for 535 yards and is likely to miss the remaining seven games of the regular season.

Giants TE Shockey will be game-time decision Monday
November 22, 2003

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- A decision on whether to play tight end Jeremy Shockey against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be made just before the game Monday night.

Shockey, who sprained his left knee almost two weeks ago against Atlanta, tested it Saturday for the second straight day.

``He says he feels better,'' coach Jim Fassel said. ``I'm going to be smart with him. He did well today. He ran around, and he wasn't much more sore than yesterday.

``I want to see how he's feeling. I'll watch him warm up. But I will do what's right for him and the team.''

The All-Pro tight end is listed as questionable on the team's injury report, which means his chances of playing are about 50-50.

The Giants (4-6) have lost two straight games. They probably have to win their final six to have a shot at making the playoffs.

Shockey, who set a team record for tight ends with 74 catches as a rookie, has 48 receptions this season for 535 yards and two touchdowns.

Starting left offensive tackle Luke Petitgout left practice on Saturday after his back tightened up.

Petitgout tweaked his back in the weight room earlier this week. He missed most of the season opener and the second game of the season with back problems.

Fassel thinks Petitgout will start Monday.
