So one of our two cats, Sophie, went missing yesterday. We were packing a uhaul with our stuff as we were moving and she disappeared. We never saw her get out.

We were distraught as she is the sweet one and we weren't planning on losing her anytime soon. We called for her and looked everywhere but she wasn't to be found.

It came time to leave and we hadn't found her. We put some food out and thought maybe she'd come back a little later on... We came back later but no dice.

So as my wife and I were getting ready for bed last night, who do I see peeking out from under the bed but Sophie!

Apparently she climbed up into the box spring and hitched a ride to the new place in the uhaul.

We had no idea but were so glad and relieved to see her!

You're lucky...I've seen cats haul ass back to where they moved from, wanting nothing to do with the new place.

Aww - I'm glad to hear that Sophie is OK! I know how relieved I was to find one of our cats a few weeks ago when I thought he got out (of course, he was chillin' under the bed as I'm running around the house like a madwoman!) Our kitties used to climb up into the box springs when they were younger - they'd go missing for hours upon hours, then someone would sit or lay down and a cat would come running out from underneath the bed.

I'm sure you gave Sophie some extra head/chin rubs and kitty treats :)

The same thing almost happened to us a few years back.

We were moving from Greensboro to Raleigh & in the process of packing up, we lost our cat Houdini. We searched all around the apartment & on the grounds, but no luck. Just on a lark, I lifted up the side of the couch & out he came!

As you can tell, we named him that for a reason. :)
