This is according to Eklund but if true, it pretty much seals it that I won't bother with Center Ice this season.

Every Saturday night, NHL Network will not only broadcast
the live Hockey Night In Canada double-header, but also the CBC pre-game
show Scotiabank Hockey Tonight and post-game show After Hours.

That would be very nice.

I've already cancelled CI this year. First year in, ever. Didn't get our money's worth last year, and doubt that'll be different this year. Figure if we need to add it later I'll eat the whopping $10 we would've saved as an early bird. One less bill around Christmas anyway. Only thing that made it tough is that CI is a lot in HD now.
Thanks for the scoop.

REALLY? Heh. Wouldn't that be something? I'd like it to come from a better source, but if it's true, that's great exposure for the League. HNIC is must see TV, and if they're showing pregame and After hours? People will love it.

But, I can't possibly cancel CI- too many teams I need to be watching and all those west coast games, I have wondered if we would ever cancel it, and it's so funny, we originally signed up for CI when we bought our house and moved in so hub could watch "all the Pens games" years ago. Now, the Pens are the afterthought, and we're in front of that TV watching wayyyy too many games to count in a weeks time. It's pitiful that all of my favorite regular season shows don't get viewed until Summer time because I don't watch anything but hockey from OCT to June. It would be nice to reduce our DirecTV bill to under $100 bucks, but that's not happening anytime soon!

Let me dig around for another source. Although it does look legit - like a press release that Ek copied to his blog.

Edit: Found it posted on the always reliable Kukla's............so yeah! this is great news for hockey in the U.S. Oh, and looking at the sched- Canes are on 12/21 vs MTL!

I'll believe this when someone other than Ekloser reports it.

I loved having CI, but it's also a time consumer (as well as $$$ consumer). I'll hate missing the non-FSN games, but I'm missing some FSN (or live) games because of conflicts as it is and there are always options to catch those.

When I was doing the pro/cons of CI, missing HNIC was a big con, but that's totally gone now. Between FNS, VS, NHLN (for this AND On The Fly), I think I'm covered. I was bummed about not seeing much of Cole, but the HNIC/NHLN thing will fill that enough.

Of course, TWC doesn't have NHLN in HD, which sucks.

So.... it appears that amongst the BOD of The Clique, that CI is optional. I approve!

Guy!! I'm touched & flattered!! I still keep a piece in my ticket holder.... still convinced it's lucky. And CHC... there's still scraps left. I can get you a piece, if you really want one.

And, NCC--- yes, I just made a new rule: You're automatically on the BOD, if you've got a piece of the lucky undies!

(Gah! What people will do, just to get on the BOD!!!)

And I'm with you, Guy-- that's a good number of HD games on NHL. Doesn't make me think twice about not ordering CI. Maybe I'll even start being a regular HNIC watcher, now, too! :D

still in my wallet. can't bring myself to remove it. lol

Just looked at my piece the other day as I bought a gorgeous new wallet and moved the lucky piece to it's new home/section of honor. and CL is correct, they are lucky. That's why I can't let my piece go.

My husband, who says I find ways to lose things so I can go shop for something new, is dumbfounded that I STILL have that piece of of CL's lucky undies and it has gone everywhere with me since that very late night waitin' on a plane to come on back to RDU, when CL was passing pieces among the clique.

Ya'll think I should ask JF next time I see him around town if he has his piece still too??
