Like everyone else in North America, i'm just glad Edmonton isn't picking first again.

I wish the pick had come out higher, but i wouldn't change the circumstances that led to the team picking that late - even though every win made it tougher to get one of those top 3 picks, i loved watching them fight until the end.

    Kind of neat thing:

Kraft Hockeyville didn't go to a local rink (alas) but! "Lakeview Arena" in Marquette, MI won, and they'll host a nationally televised preseason game on Oct 4 featuring the Sabres and the Hurricanes.

Did you look at that depth chart? Had Rick Nash on our top line with JStaal, Darren Helm pulling 3rd line duties and Michael Grabner on the 4th line. Was glad to see no Riley Nash, Brad "slewfoot" Malone, Ryan sMurphy or wee man in the line up...although, that last one made me a bit sad- but not sad enough.

Saw that depth chart --- let's all say it together - just say no to Rick Nash.

I thought the piece in total was pretty balanced, the Nash thing though, no. We need not another guy who's a quiet sort and is on the other side of his career. the 40 goal Nash is probably gone. He's not shown me he's a big stage player and nobody tell me he played in the Olympics. Yeah with a bunch of good dudes. Doesn't count. Let's look elsewhere.

I'm personally just super excited about Sebastian Aho. What a world championships he had. Luke wrote a piece on him today :

Lots to be excited about, IMO.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but EStaal's home is up for sale:

    And priced to move.

I think one's minor enough to bury in the offseason thread (vs. Ward's 2-year deal which deserved its own) -- Derek Ryan signed to a 1-year, 2-way contract (significant AHL raise) today:

    Default Canes sign another one

    Francis has definitely been busy.

Andrew Poturalski was a Hobey Baker Award finalist before signing as a free agent with the #Canes.

Not sure I've seen this posted, the Canes (and Johnny Sideburns!) are hosting a NHL Draft Party this Friday at PNC Arena:

Not Canes-related, but this seems the best thread/section to post this and hopefully get the most traction.

This weekend is NCSU's Stephen Russell Memorial Tournament -- ton of schools in town to play today through Sunday.

The email I sent to some of my work gang:

    Tickets Prices:
    $5 Adults
    $3 Student/Youth
(If memory serves, the admission is all-day – I think $5 for one game gets you in to the rest of the games at that venue that day, too.)

    Locations:
    RCI -- 912 W. Hodges St., Raleigh, NC 27608
    Iceplex -- 2601 N. Raleigh Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27604

I don’t know about RCI, but at the Iceplex, you can take in your own food and alcohol, as long as it’s not glass. But I believe both will be fuhreezing, so dress warm, unless fuhreezing suits you.
Hopefully you can view this attachment big enough to see the schedule:
