Ok so dumb question-- I saw no mention of the STH gift. I was very happy with the bag I got (and will get broken in on my trip next week).

Oh yeah hey ya'll, it's been a while.

They ditched it for the food credit. I like most people liked the gift program but after several years had a pretty good collection of Canes schwag,

BTW Has anybody confirmed that the food credit is good for beer to?

Don't forget that there are 2 deadlines. March 23 is the date for the invite to the cookout with the players. April 30 is the deadline for the F&B credit. And they'll charge your card as soon as they process the EchoSign document.

Also, I don't know that I noticed this above, but just pointing out for those of us who take advantage of the 8-month, interest-free payment plan, those payments are coming two weeks earlier. Typically, the first is around June 16, but now it's May 30, with the last payment being Dec. 30.

Had a lady sitting behind me last night who I had to put in her place. During one of the 'TV timeouts' they put on the jumbotron about the F&B benefit of being a STH. This lady goes "big deal, you spend thousands of dollars and get that, who cares." I had to turn around and say "actually the STHs really like this benefit as we pretty much voted on it with a survey we took earlier in the year. So the org is listening to us and giving us something we want."

And yeah they waste no time taking that deposit once you sign up.

I've actually emailed Karen as I did the renewal last week and my credit card hasn't been charged yet. First time I've ever been worried that I haven't seen an expense posted, but we don't want to miss out on the BBQ.

I signed up the day renewals came out, and didn't see a charge either until today (charge processed yesterday). Checked for same reason (don't want to miss the BBQ).

Ugh, thanks for pointing this out. I wish we could set a date. I get paid once a month so I have no money left by the 30th

We are now full season ticket holders. Time for the Canes to go get Parise, Suter and maybe Nash

If anyone is interested in 5-10 games x 2 tickets in section 107 or 116 let me know. I am trying to put a group together... almost there ($57 seats)

Got a call from my rep yesterday checking in on things and my thoughts of last season and feelings about next...and oh yeah, my renewal.

Said I wasn't renewing and the whys, but of note, he said that you basically have until next season starts to retain your acct priority (though you lose the F&B and seat assignment priority obviously) should you change your mind and decide to renew.

Also, got an email that claims that if you renew and then change your mind, you can get your money back. Have they always done that?

Not that I am aware of except during the lockout.

A co-worker of mine cancelled after making one payment. They try to persuade you to keep the money "on account" but allow you to apply it against single game purchases. If you press them, they will refund it though.

Then it seems that they are changing their approach on that. The email I got yesterday is targeted to us 12-gamers and lists 3 reasons to "renew now"

1) F&B Credit (if renewed by 4/30)
2) No Risk (they outline that you can get a full refund if there is not a ticket plan right for you)
3) 0% interest payments.

Hm... the no risk (no plan that works) actually is tempting now. I was on the "wait to see if there's a kid-friendly plan" track; now, hm...

I think the no refund if there's not a plan right for you is a very fair deal, esp if they're not going to offer a pick-your-own plan.

I agree. I guess I hadn't really thought about it before but when reading about it, it makes sense. They make you commit to 12 games (or 26 games) before producing the plan structure themselves. Wonder if that was based on feedback from plan holders. If so, another good move.

I'm guessing they'll figure if they get 20% down now, and then 3 months of drafts before the plans come out, the risk of a lot of refunds is probably pretty low, but at least they don't put the sales rep on the hook for trying to "convince you" to not get your money back.

My 2012-2013 tix plan will be Penn State hockey as they make the jump to Division I.

University in the process of building a new ice arena that will open for 2013-2014 season. Owner of Slugs is Penn State grad and donated 100.2 million to make it happen.

Rumors that Penn State will try to host Winter Classic within 5 yrs of 2013-2014 season. University may send team to Mchigan to see how U of M handles logistics of the event next season. Hoping I will be on that team if they indeed send one.

A bit further off topic. Years ago, I was flying home to visit the family in New Orleans and as USAir does, we had a stop in Charlotte. A group of four guys, obviously friends traveling together get on and they all took aisle seats-- two on each side of the aisle. The flight took off and within minutes of being airborne, the guys start digging in their briefcases, pulling out files, papers and one guy even had a what looked like a blue print/diagram. All four start leaning into the aisle, trying to face each other and have a meeting. As their discussion continued, it turns out that these four guys were with the Charlotte Panthers and they were flying down to New Orleans to do the logistics in the event the Panthers won the NFC and were going to the Super Bowl. The guys were so detailed as to be figuring out where certain players would be in the hotel, where the ice machines were, so many rooms were on this hallway, the defense could go on this wing/floor, but then the question of where would the coaches and coordinators be and how close did they need to be to the players, etc... It was just an interesting covnersation to overhear. Of course, it was all for naught as the Panthers lost.

Back to the Canes renewal--- Seems like they are really pushing hard for renewals, We renewed awhile ago, but are on that general Canes mailer and I've seen 3 different emails (including one this morning) with "reminders" and such. Also talked to some of our seat mates from 121, who got phone calls- following up to make sure they're renewing.

Makes sense though because that deadline for the F&B credit on 4/30 is looming.

Interesting. Just got an email from the Canes and the subject line is:

"Please E-sign the 2012-13 Hurricanes Renewal/Authorization Form (MS)"

We're the correct target audience since we did not renew, but just struck me as funny to have the title formed that way rather than something a little more Marketing friendly. It's the first email since the 4/30 reminders.

That is very odd E! I wonder what they meant to send? They can't be that dense?

I got my select a seat form today to sign up if I want to check out available seats.
