And the second the planet knows I'm paying attention, all hell breaks loose for Team USA.

When I forget why it is that I love all things Canada EXCEPT when it comes to International hockey tournaments, I just have to watch a WJC Team USA game played in Canada and I remember why.

Awful lot of Czechs in Edmonton today, huh?

I checked out of the tourney after the NYE game vs Canada became meaningless. Then we were sitting in club lounge, with the TV's and tuned in by default for tonight's quarterfinals.

Terrible way for FIN to lose to the swedes, shootout loss & Mikael Granlund the shootout master ...flubs to end it.

Russians are killing Canada 5-1....wow.Ryan Murray, draft eligible D man has had 3 goals go off him. OMG.

And now with 24 seconds to go it's 6-5 Russia. These dang teenagers....Canada just about made a near crazy comeback.

This is probably the first year in many many years that I haven't watched a minute of live WJC hockey (I've seen highlights), but I'm thrilled for the Russians.

If I can be happy for the Japanese beating the US Women in the Soccer World Cup finals after the devastating tsunami, then I can be happy to see the Russian hockey community have success here!

Tonight's game is the 1st I've watched of the WJC. Now who am I supposed to be looking at as our 1st round pick this year?
