A shame that the team had to take a note from the big boys. That game seemed all too familiar with our game with Tampa last year.

I'd like to personally thank the organization for finding a way to allow us to experience missing on the last day of the season AGAIN this year, even if the Canes couldn't pull it off.

Having my heart broken by two teams is so much more fun.

I'm sorry, but wasn't Daniels given notice that Canes management wanted to see Dumoulin play? Yeah... here it is:
Quote:
“I know he’s a winner and that Carolina is very excited about him as a prospect,” said Checkers coach Jeff Daniels. “I haven’t decided exactly what’s going to happen, but I know they want to see him play.”~from GoCheckers
S'up with that, Jeff? Get off with your bad-ass defiant self.

I've said it before, that these projections/proclamations have begun to irk me. But given that they signed him just last week, I thought they could project accurately for the next 7 days or less. I realize ( or guess) that you may not want to mess with a winning lineup, but you knew winning was the goal for the final games when you signed him....for that final push.

What a shame. And they had all the big guns. Three teams needed points yesterday in the west and two got them.

edit to add: I realize they don't always bring in players to the "next level" and expect them to play. But somewhere wires got crossed or minds were changed because there were various tweets about him being available for Wednesday's game...and then that was pushed to Friday after he didn't get signed quick enough.

Now we can double up on the 'silly season' thread, seeing as half of the Checkers could be gone next season.

What a bogus day. At least Lavi's up 3 games to none over CAds. And while i'm hardly a Hartnell fan, what was up with Craig's hair-pulling ploy? From the angle, perhaps he didn't realize he had hair and not sweater, so maybe benefit of the doubt. But i have a bit of a problem with pulling hair just because it's long, don't you know? Anyway, wrong thread. Back to your regularly-scheduled Checkers updates...

Yeah so what was up with Dumoulin not even getting a game. I thought the whole point of signing him now was to get him into a game.

That has me as confused on why Perry and Lidstrom are getting into the same car together for that Honda commercial.

Disappointing end to the season, but not that surprising. Team seemed fragile mentally all year, losing leads or having bad third periods way to often.

It will be interesting to see what happens with all the RFAs, etc....

I literally have no words for last night's disappointment, but given the "history" am I really surprised? SO unbelievably BRUTAL.

I'm still scratching my head on why Dumoulin wasn't in one game, when it seemed to me, that the powers that be wanted to see him in a game.

I guess it matters not, but seriously.... what a waste, not just Dumoulin, the whole thing.

So if he didn't play a game, did he still burn a year of his contract?

No, he was on an amateur tryout with the Checkers for the end of this season. His three-year Canes ELC starts in 2012-13.
