I have no clue why they choose GA over assigned seats some years...and frankly not sure if it's completely GA, but....given that it's a weekday/daytime game, and all the seats are free. I just can't get too worked up.

I ***** plenty, y'all know that , but when they do stuff to reward plan holders (free seats) at the same time as encouraging new fans or non-plan holders with a little goodwill, then I'm all for it.

I don't really care that its general admission. They are allowing STHs to enter 30 minutes earlier than others, so if you really want your seat, I'm sure you can get your seat.

Then again, I'm one who wants to take advantage of the sit anywhere and go mosey to West or East Snooterville

Oh, for crap's sake, people! It's a freakin pre-season game that doesn't mean crap, at 1-freakin-30 in the afternoon. They'll be lucky if there's 6000 freakin people in the freakin seats. I'm sure everyone will get to sit pretty freakin close to where they want they freakin want to be.

Is anyone going to Raleigh Wide Open today and would be willing to pick up three tickets to the free pre-season game for me at the Hurricanes booth? I've been trying to get to some of the events where they are giving them out but I either have a conflict or I've been out of town. I may even have some Canes stuff to offer for your trouble. Dubs and I will have tickets in our STH package and son, d-i-l, and grandson would love to go.

I talked to some of the Canes Promotions and Fan Development staff yesterday at RWO and here's some additional information regarding the free preseason event.

All tickets are general admission seating, including the tickets that will be distributed to season ticket holders in our ticket packages. All season ticket plan holders will get the free tickets. The STH tickets are going to be printed in such a way that they are distinguished from the tickets that are being given out by Promotions and Fan Development.

At the game, season ticket holders will be allowed to enter the building 30 minutes earlier than the rest of the ticket holders. There will be specific sections in Lower Level that will be restricted to season ticket holders (I have no idea how they will "administer" that unless they use East and West Priority as the natural boundaries).

So, while season ticket holders won't be assigned their specific seat, they will be getting some benefits over the general public.

^I would assume that the answer to that question is Yes. I don't see why they would signal out the mini plan holders for this. To me it seems every STH will get the same benefit for this free game.

If I were a mini plan buyer, it would piss me off if the organization made me wait in line with the "unwashed masses". Since they are giving all the tickets away, it makes tons of sense to give some kind of priority to all STH's.

Not sure if they'll do it like the free Washington game a few years ago, but I know that year ALL STH's got in at the earlier time. I'm just a 26'er.
