So now jr is saying that he will know where we are after the weekend. I guess his assumption is that the law of averages states that we should eventually win a game or two and then he will feel justified in keeping Mo

I hate having to try to convince myself to go to a game.
I am in the same boat, looked forward to game nights and planned my week around them. Now it is more like "oh crap, game tonight, do I have to, do I really have to". This from a guy that was usually there and hour or so before to "take it all in".

Interesting observation from Luke:

Laviolette was already in town when Maurice was fired in 2003. Same for Maurice in 2008. "Not today" doesn't mean wheels aren't in motion.
Renewed hope . . .

Should we post up spotters at RDU looking for possible coaches coming in?

A fair point. RT @tmlucia1: @LukeDeCock What's the point of reassigning and calling up players when we know Mo won't use them?

re: nothing happening today...

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

The only thing is that if it was an in-house thing, none of those things would matter. If it were Daniels, I suppose JR could have told him to get his ass up here, but it would be BLATANTLY obvious if he weren't with the Checkers this morning.

If it's an external hire, then yes, I get it.

I abstain from the fire-Mo discussion because having been fired once or twice, it's just generally not something I wish on *anyone* (who hasn't helped cover up child molestation at a major university). Whatever the state of the team, it makes my heart sink to think of being the person who would be fired in such a public manner. I know, I know, something's gotta be done and you can't fire the whole team and I absolutely get that. It's just one of those situations where I firmly plant my feet in I'm-just-a-fan-and-have-no-control-over-this-process-or-decision.

With that said, any news of firing may be pending details of hiring. Are any of our assistants ready to step in? If not, JR may be looking for the person, even if just interim, to put in that spot before announcing the firing.

I don't get it. It's like a line from a horror movie, right before the speaker gets creamed with something hand-held and gasoline-powered.

Maybe he is searching... the 'overall picture' may be whether people he has approached are interested, and 'where we're going' means who they're going with.

No, i don't necessarily believe that, but i'm trying ncc's optimism thing...

Right. I do feel bad about that part, but he'll get paid longer (and more) than most people who get fired. And he'll have a parachute of some kind from JR/PK. The embarrassment you just can't avoid with a job like that when it comes time.

Coaching money is guaranteed, I think. While firing him would suck for him (and I do, legit feel for him), not like his family is going to go hungry or the like.

Yes, it's a contract and guaranteed.

The "parachute" comment was that they'll find him something to do beyond that.

I am believeing that is the case. I think JR has someone in mind and there may be some conversations between unnamed parties about whether or not this person (s) is available or interested. The only way I wouldn't believe this is if I was rational and thought that all of this should have already taken place considering the performance of this team recently.

Exactly. If he gets a front office job, he's not fired just "reassigned"

See, no guilt necessary for wanting him "reassigned"

I have refrained from coming in here because I have been ready to start cussing again after waking up and having a splitting headache, and then having the brilliant idea on my way to a doctor's appt, to listen to Forslund on 620. Forslund was sooooo restrained, but you could hear the crackle of frustration in his voice.

I know JR is a feed the press one thing and do another kind of dude, but honestly, after the "after this weekend" comment he made to Chirp, WTH is he waiting for? What more does he NEED? Good F***ing GRIEF.

The Puck Daddy piece was epic. completely bang on. Between hearing the TSN evaluation on the team during that game last night, and this piece all of these people are "outsiders" and to me, completely objective. Blind loyalty is clouding alot in this situation. It's difficult to take.

Same. I'm sure Rutherford has already started the talks/looking for a new coach. You can't fire a coach with no one to replace him.

And I know some of ya'll are screaming Daniels, but I don't want him. Let him stay in Charlotte where he's doing a great job with the kids. Plus, he's too ingrained into the family here. He's been with this org forever and things won't change. Sure he might get a spark for a few games, but then I think we see the same ol same ol, maybe just not this bad.

Lewis, i'm not so sure on either. Our defense is the laughing stock of the league right now and he's got control of them or does he. If he can't get 6 guys to do their job, how is he to get a whole team.

I'm really hoping that JR is looking outside the box. This team needs a new voice, new eyes, and new everything to get back on the right track.

And as far as firing Mo, it will absoulty suck for him, but I also believe and will be shocked if he isn't given something else to do in this organization. So it won't be so much a firing as in a change of job description.

Hey SoCal, since I'm CI-less, I missed what AWard said about Kaberle in the pregame. I think you tweeted about it? Deets?

Well, I'm not sure about the screaming, it's just an option.

And if he's given an Interim title, it's a no lose situation. If he succeeds (however that's defined) they have an option to promote him permanently. If not, he can go back to CLT.
