Random addition for future reference: 90 points clinched a playoff spot in the East this year.

Might it not be 92 points, if the Caps win their final game?

(As an aside, it almost makes me feel less upset about the Columbus/Detroit debacles; because even if we had won out, it would have been 91max. If the Caps get 92, well, what could we have done...)

Also, while we can't sadly knock Florida out of the playoffs entirely, we can, if the Caps win their game, knock Florida down to 8th where they'll visit the Rangers, instead of hosting the Devils. (Coincidentally, the Caps visit the Rangers for their final game of the regular season, which if they lose, they will play in the first round. Since the Caps game is a 6:30 start and the Panthers game is a 7:30 start, could get interesting.)

Yes, it's possible that Caps and Panthers could both finish with 92 in the outlined and hoped for plan in which we keep FL from winning their 1st SE division...but since all 8 playoff spots locked up last night with a 90 point minimum, that was technically the bar for making the playoffs.
