Default Hurricanes to Host Alumni 'Fantasy Game' 4/1

They talked about this the other night on the broadcast, Tripp being kinda/sorta/not really coy about it.

Hurricanes to Host Alumni 'Fantasy Game'

Trip also mentioned that he thought maybe wink-wink, nudge-nudge that Henry Staal would be playing.

And that is why it will remain a Fantasy.

Well... it IS for charity, and that'll keep away people who really and truly don't have the skills for the event. For this type of event, you want people with deep pockets.

and today, my husband is really, really sad we're not rich!
I think it is a fair price for such an opportunity, just not in our budget though.

try justifying it like I did - $450 of that is for the authentic jersey + customization ...so it's REALLY only $1050!!

maybe next year, if I hadn't just bought a house I'd do it

Just bumping this up. Here's a new write-up:

http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=624656

Doors open at 2:00PM. Puck-drop at 3:00PM

Parking and seating is on the East side of the arena.

The RED TEAM features:
Ron Francis (Captain)
Shane Willis
Aaron Ward
Steve Halko

The WHITE TEAM features:
Rod Brind'Amour (Captain)
Glen Wesley
Jesse Boulerice
Robert Kron

The event is free, but bring a few bucks for a donation to the Kids-n-Community fund.

I'm looking forward to seeing Henry Staal play. This should wrap up nicely an otherwise bad hockey weekend

I'm planning on being there -- a couple guys on my beer league team are playing on Francis' team!

Apologies if I've overlooked this in some obvious mention, but does anyone know if any concessions will be open today?

I haven't seen it officially mentioned anywhere, but Michael Smith tweeted on Wednesday (replying to a friend of mine) that the East priority concessions would be open.

For those going, hope you have a good time. I've got a ton to do which I was unable to get done yesterday and I will be out of town next weekend, so today's the day.

I'll be there. This is my last shot at decent live hockey this weekend.

At least a Canes team won this weekend!

Sounds like a fun event from the tweets I read. We have been 'getting sh*t done' this weekend and didn't want to lose our momentum.

Hopefully they'll build on this and make it an annual event!

I thought it was fantastic. Soooo surprised at the turnout. Hope they raised a on of money, it was fantastic.

Great time sitting with Canesluver and SHC w/Mr SHC.

One of our LGC twitter followers was on the white team...(Joe Ribar) I believe he posts occasionally...he was ecstatic after the game. congrats Joe!

Highlight of the game Henry Staal scoring on Tripp & flying into the glass like his son. Was right in front of our section. Across the way was Eric & the very fast moving little Parker Staal, cheering. Great stuff.

This will only get bigger...Canes org did a great job. Forslund did a great job as the host. I told SHC & CL, they need to just record JF doing there game announcer work, soooooooooooo much easier to hear & understand than Hoyle.

Weekend salvaged!

The fam and I had a blast! It was great to see some of our former Canes lace'em up again. I hope they do this every year. I can see it getting bigger and better.

They raised $45K in a day, just from guys willing to play. They're probably kicking themselves for not coming up with this idea earlier.

It was a lot of fun, and I'm still insanely jealous... debated signing up myself, now kicking myself for not doing it. The guys from my club represented us true beer leaguers well today though -- props to #20 Quigley and #61 Madison on red.... #20 was the one dropping gloves on the ice at Jesse when he was trash-talking the Red team in his Forslund interview -- hilarious!

Sad that I had to miss as it sounds like it was a great event. Glad everyone who got to go had a good game to watch. Sad when the alumni game is the best game of the weekend

Took advantage of good weather and went on a bike ride on the greenways. I needed a way to work off all that beer from two tailgates this weekend and couldn't really justify a third day at the PNC Arena, especially at how pathetic we were on Saturday and how we couldn't figure out how to hold a lead on Friday. That being said, I am glad everyone had a good time and found it worth the time and effort.

Easily the best game of the weekend.

It was hilarious when the Red team not only pulled the goalie late, but put everyone out on the ice in order to try to score a few goals.
